System Engineer
Role OverviewThe Aerospace Systems Engineer will play a key role in developing autonomy systems for aircraft. This position involves supporting system development, integration, and testing, with particular emphasis on requirements creation and validation, system definition, design reviews, and hardware/software verification. You will be embedded within a cross-functional team, collaborating closely with hardware, software, and robotics engineers, technical managers, and flight operations personnel. The role also involves helping refine processes to ensure safe and effective operational deployment of autonomous aircraft.ResponsibilitiesSystem DevelopmentDefine system architecture through diagrams and documentationSpecify and manage component interfacesSelect and integrate hardware and software componentsAuthor, validate, and trace requirementsPrepare and present design reviewsVerification & TestingDevelop and execute test plans for requirements verificationConduct component- and system-level verification and validationPerform unit testing, integration testing, simulation, and flight testingRelease & Configuration ManagementKeep system documentation currentManage hardware and software configurationTravel & LocationOccasional field testing (approximately 1–3 trips per quarter)Office-based in Pittsburgh, PA, with some field timeUp to 20% remote work possibleThis role is restricted to US persons due to funding requirementsRequired QualificationsStrong communication skills, both written and verbal5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering for aerospace, helicopter experience highly desirableBachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related fieldExperience with modification and test programs for aircraft avionics or flight control systemsAbility to independently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentEnthusiasm for advancing autonomous aviation technologyDesired QualificationsExperience modifying airframes for experimental or specialized missionsExperience with software requirements and verificationFamiliarity with safety-critical software systems#J-18808-Ljbffr
