CT Scan Technologist Job Description: As the CT Scan Technologist, you’ll be a key part of a team that truly values your expertise. You will perform diagnostic imaging examinations using computed tomography (CT) equipment to produce high‑quality images that help physicians make confident decisions about patient care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Confirm patient identity and review medical history prior to procedures. Educate patients on procedure steps, expectations, and aftercare. Prepare and position patients for CT exams according to physician orders and established protocols. Operate CT equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images. Review and verify physician orders in the electronic health record (EHR) for accuracy and completeness. Administer and monitor imaging contrast agents, ensuring patient safety and identifying contraindications or adverse reactions. Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and regulatory standards, including ALARA principles, to ensure staff and patient safety. Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment; promptly report malfunctions or quality issues. Accurately document patient procedures, contrast usage, and image data. Collaborate with radiologists and providers to ensure accurate and timely interpretation of images. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control protocols, and Illinois state requirements. Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field. Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in CT. Illinois state license as a Radiologic Technologist (required). Minimum 1–2 years of diagnostic imaging experience preferred. Excellent communication and patient care skills. Desired Skills Strong patient care and communication abilities. Proficiency with PACS, EHR, and radiology information systems. Detail-oriented with strong knowledge of anatomy and imaging protocols. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong problem-solving skills and compassionate approach to patient care. Working Conditions Exposure to radiation with strict adherence to safety protocols. Requires standing, walking, and assisting patients throughout shifts.
