Job Title: Mainframe DeveloperLocation: Onsite in Baltimore, MDJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to join a large enterprise technology team supporting mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in IBM Mainframe technologies, application development, production support, and system enhancements. The role requires working across the full software development lifecycle while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable enterprise solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise mainframe applications.Develop and support applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and IMS.Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.Develop, unit test, debug, and deploy application enhancements.Create and maintain JCL for batch processing and production jobs.Develop and optimize DB2 SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, architects, and project stakeholders throughout the SDLC.Support application modernization, performance improvements, and continuous enhancement initiatives.Prepare technical documentation, design specifications, and operational procedures.Participate in production deployments, release activities, and on-call support when required.Required Skills5+ years of hands-on IBM Mainframe development experience.Strong expertise in:COBOLJCLCICSDB2VSAMIMS DB/DCStrong SQL and database development skills.Experience working in IBM z/OS environments.Hands-on experience with TSO/ISPF, SDSF, SPUFI, File Manager, and IBM Utilities.Experience with source control tools such as Endevor, Changeman, or ISPW.Experience with batch scheduling tools such as Control-M, CA-7, or equivalent.Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning experience.Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.Preferred SkillsExperience with MQ Series, REST APIs, SOAP/Web Services, or Mainframe Integration technologies.Exposure to Mainframe modernization initiatives.Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD practices for Mainframe applications.Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.Experience supporting large enterprise or government applications is a plus.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.5–10+ years of professional Mainframe development experience.Technology StackIBM z/OS | COBOL | JCL | CICS | DB2 | VSAM | IMS | SQL | TSO/ISPF | SDSF | Endevor | Changeman | Control-M | CA-7 | MQ Series | IBM UtilitiesPreferred Candidate ProfileStrong understanding of enterprise application architecture and SDLC.Experience supporting both development and production environments.Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Passion for building high-quality, reliable enterprise applications.
