General Definition of WorkThe Student Success Coach increases the capacity of teachers to improve their classroom management skills and the culture of their classrooms through the delivery of professional development, peer coaching, and the modeling of techniques and strategies. The Student Success Coach monitors student progression with a focus on behavior and academic subgroups. The Student Success Coach works directly with students in need of tier 2 and 3 behavior and academic support.Qualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.SalaryNorth Carolina Teaching Salary ScheduleReports toPrincipalEssential FunctionsProvide professional development to school staff on restorative justice and other interventions/strategiesResearch and obtain external resources on classroom management and the development of strong classroom culturesCreate lesson plans for PBIS ExpectationsEnsure school HOUSE system is implemented with fidelityLead planning for HOUSE meetings and celebrationsSupport and coach staff on implementing PBIS with fidelity, including positive redirectionModel classroom management strategies to improve classroom culture and develop an effective instructional environmentProvide behavior and academic interventions for students in tier 2 and 3 Conduct an analysis of gaps between the school's mission/vision and teachers' classroom management and classroom cultureObserve teachers' classroom practice to diagnose the gaps in teachers' classroom management and classroom cultureProvide feedback to teachers on their ability to manage student behavior, implement PBIS/HOUSE system, and create effective classroom learning environmentsWork with teachers to problem-solve specific classroom management and student behavior challenges through the lenses of instruction, curriculum, and environmentEnsure alignment between the teachers' classroom actions, PBIS, and school's vision / missionServe on the School Improvement Team, MTSS and PBIS/ HOUSE Goal TeamKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability of effective classroom managementDemonstrated ability to coach and support teachersDemonstrated ability to facilitate professional developmentExperience with implementing PBISExperience implementing FBA/ BIPExperience analyzing Behavior Universal Screener (BUS)Experience closing achievement gaps within school subgroupsEffective interpersonal skillsEducation and ExperienceNC Teaching License with a minimum of 4 years successful elementary experience.
