The overall function of this position is to ensure that maintenance, repairs, modifications, upgrades and installations are made to all electrical equipment and mechanical components on moveable bridges, facilities and rest areas and to assist the Electronic Technician Supervisor in all respective capacities. Maintenance of these structures and facilities includes troubleshooting malfunctions of all electrical and mechanical equipment/components related to the facilities and structures and preventative maintenance, which includes making continual inspections of the structure's operational equipment, and recommending repair work and equipment replacements to supervisors. The performance of the moveable bridges and district facilities has a direct impact on district operations, both in terms of minimizing impacts to the traveling public and in terms of quickly repairing malfunctions that pose safety issues. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Ensures proper and efficient maintenance, by performing inspections and repairs to all District 03 moveable bridges and facilities equipment, including all electrical and mechanical equipment. Troubleshoot malfunctioning electrical and mechanical equipment in the District as needed. Apprises supervisors of potential repair work and equipment replacements. Assists supervisor in estimating repair costs to determine feasibility of repair or replacement decisions. Ensures all work is performed in accordance with the National Electrical Code. Performs openings of movable bridges and provides training on opening of movable bridges as needed to personnel that perform bridge openings Performs routine maintenance repairs, preventative maintenance, modifications, upgrades and installation of all electrical equipment and mechanical components on moveable bridges which includes hydraulic components, electrical & interlock control systems, and troubleshooting/diagnosing malfunctions of movable structures, facilities, and rest areas. Installs, maintains, and repairs single and three phase electrical services including step down transformers, service panels, and service connections. Service, troubleshoot, and repair control boards and control circuits including electrical speed control, relays including phase failure relays, limit switches, and electrical component bypass circuits. Service and repair electrical facilities and grounds in District 03 including generators, transformers, lighting, and electrical systems. Routine repairs of all electronic devices, motors, air conditioners, bearings, generators, relays and other powered equipment. Oversees the maintenance of all permanent and temporarily installed generators for emergency response related to power outages. Performs electrical system installation for minor remodeling and renovation work related to facilities. This includes the review of existing loads, suitability of panel boxes and feedback to others who may be upgrading our systems. Reads and interprets electrical blueprints, electronic schematics, and mechanical layouts for diagnosis and repair of all electrical equipment. Ensures compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.
