Job DescriptionDepartment:Center for Small Town Jewish LifePay Rate Type:SalaryEmployee Type:Job Summary:The Director of Leadership Development provides strategic leadership for student leadership training and program evaluation within the Center for Small Town Jewish Life at Colby College. This position is responsible for designing and implementing leadership development initiatives that support Colby students engaged in the Center’s programs and strengthen the Center’s overall impact through effective assessment and continuous improvement practices.Reporting to the Center’s Deputy Director, the Director develops leadership training frameworks, supports staff in setting measurable program and professional goals, and oversees internal evaluation processes.The role also contributes to youth and teen programming and collaborates across the Center’s team to enhance program quality, student engagement, and leadership development outcomes.This is a part time position with a flexible schedule, averaging 12-18 hours per week.Essential FunctionsTo be successful in this position, an individual should be able to perform the essential duties and bring the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that support the role. This list of duties is intended to be representative rather than exhaustive, and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.Leadership Development Program DesignDevelop and implement leadership training programs for Colby students participating in the Center’s leadership initiativesDesign curriculum and learning experiences that support leadership growth, community engagement, and Jewish learningEvaluate program effectiveness and refine offerings to meet evolving student and program needsStaff Support and Program OversightProvide guidance and support to Center staff members who lead student focused leadership programsCollaborate with program leaders to strengthen program design, delivery, and outcomesPromote alignment and consistency across leadership development initiativesEvaluation and Assessment StrategyLead the Center’s internal evaluation processes to assess program effectiveness and impactPartner with staff to develop measurable program goals and outcomesDesign and support implementation of post program feedback tools, including surveys and assessment frameworksCollaborate with operations staff to establish processes for setting and evaluating annual professional goalsYouth and Teen Program LeadershipCo-direct the Center’s youth and teen programs, including:Mid-Maine Jewish FuntensiveJewish Youth ConnectionYouth and teen programming associated with the Fall Shabbaton and Maine Conference for Jewish LifeSupport program development and delivery to enhance youth engagement and leadership developmentInstitutional Contribution and Professional EngagementParticipate actively in Center staff meetings and contribute to cross program collaborationServe as an educator or facilitator in Center programming when appropriateRepresent the Center for Small Town Jewish Life in public facing contexts as neededEngage in ongoing professional development to remain current in leadership development, program evaluation, and community engagement practices. Position QualificationsEducation and/or experience:Advanced degree in relevant field, or equivalent in professional experience, requiredExperience designing and implementing leadership development programs, particularly for students or young adultsExperience in program evaluation, assessment, or outcomes measurementExperience working with youth and/or teen programming preferredExperience in higher education, non profit, or community based organizations preferredStrong leadership, facilitation, and program design skillsExperience with assessment tools and program evaluation methodologiesAbility to translate program goals into measurable outcomesExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to collaborate effectively with colleagues across functional areasStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within a part time structureCommitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environmentPhysical/Mental DemandsThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this position and/or may be encountered while performing essential functions. Daily work may involve extended use of a computer, including keyboard and mouse Physical requirements differ by position. In general, most roles involve lifting up to 10 pounds regularly, with some positions requiring occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds or, in more physically demanding roles, up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements for this position include the ability to see clearly at close and far distances and to adjust focus as needed. The work environment is dynamic and engaging, often involving multiple tasks and projects that require shifting focus and strong organizational skills.. The noise level is generally moderate; however, there may be occasional moments of louder sounds depending on campus activity.
