Job TitleFlow Controller IJob DescriptionVanderlande is responsible for the Service & Maintenance of the Baggage Handling System at the Baltimore International Airport (BWI). We are seeking for a Flow Controller I. They are responsible for assisting the Maintenance team with system housekeeping and clearing baggage jams within the baggage handling system including responding to faults, resetting security routing failures, other minor faults of the baggage handling system and operate the system manual encode stations.Job Duties And ResponsibilitiesExercise safe working practices at all times, demonstrating and complying with allCompany safety policies, including but not limited to personal protection equipment, following Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.Clear bag jams and respond to trouble calls in the Baggage Handling SystemMaintaining cleanliness of system, providing cleaning including but not limited toSweeping, housekeeping, collecting trash, cleaning dust and debris and general housekeeping of area around systemResponding in a timely manner to dispatched callsDemonstrate good mechanical aptitude and comprehensive skillsMonitor the BHS system from control room as neededFollow instructions from control room operators, technicians and supervisors on maintenance needsRequired Education And ExperienceMinimum 1 year working experience in an industrial environmentHigh School Diploma or GED equivalentValid Driver’s LicenseOther RequirementsMust be able to attain and sustain an Airport I.D. Badge, and airport driving permit and a CBP Security seal.Must hold a valid driver’s licensePreferred QualificationsMinimum 1 year working experience in a material handling (baggage handling, material, warehouse, distribution center, etc.) environmentTechnically inclined, with potential to learn and grow into maintaining material handling systemsBasic Computer skills (Word, Excel).Knowledge-Skills-Abilities (Competencies)General technical knowledge of conveyor systems.Flexibility with time, able to shift priorities quickly based on staff and system needsStrong communication skills – Verbal and WrittenStrong work ethic and initiative, who would like to grow and develop within the organization.Customer and service orientedMust be able to work safelyPosition Type/Expected Hours of WorkFull time position; 24/7 operation; 3 shifts; overtime and weekend work is common.TravelThis position requires no travel.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Work Environment and Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job Unjammers and Manual Encoders work in hangars, in repair stations, or on airfields. They often must meet strict deadlines to maintain flight schedules. Workers frequently bend, stoop, and reach from ladders and scaffolds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is working with and exposed to the baggage handling system, mechanical parts and vibration.
