Occupational Therapist - Full Time

DescriptionPosition SummaryPlans and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team.Position AccountabilitiesMaintains departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.Evaluates, records, and reports on patient's progress for review by other members of the rehabilitation team. Completes charting requirements in a timely manner.Plans occupational therapy program for each patient including exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity.Provides practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, and activities of daily living.Coordinates participation in sensory motor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help patients or disabled persons develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities.Consults with other members of rehabilitation team to select activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of individual and to coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities. Provides supervision for COTA.Selects constructive activities suited to individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest to upgrade individual to maximum independence, prepare individual for return to employment, assists in restoration of functions, and aid in adjustment to disability.Teaches individuals skills and techniques required for participation in activities and evaluates individual's progress.Designs and constructs special equipment for individual and suggests adaptation of individual's work-living environment.Utilizes effective and courteous working relationships with all co-workers, patients and family members.Attends meetings as required.Conducts training programs or participates in training medical and nursing students and other workers in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.Provides direct occupational therapy to patients on a daily basis.Maintains personnel, professional and institutional certification and regulatory requirements by attending conferences, committee meetings, personal development and attending outside educational programs.Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy.Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit care data.Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.RequirementsMinimum Education - Bachelor's DegreeMinimum Experience - Experience as a Staff Occupational TherapistRequired Course(s)/Training - Accredited program in occupational therapy CPR certificationRequired Certification/Registration - License and registration requiredPreferred Education - Master's Degree
