Senior Controller

OverviewThe Senior Controller is responsible for overseeing financial activities and leading the accounting department. This hands-on position will assume responsibility for all aspects of financial management, including accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDirect the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits.Ensures all closings and issues are thoroughly reviewed and polished financial statements are generated consistently on time. Supervising month end closings.Oversee the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, treasury, payroll processing, fixed assets, and total payroll tax compliance.Oversee the activities of accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, reconciliations, cash reports, quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports, and check management.Manage cash flow analysis to ensure proper timing of cash outputs and anticipated cash inputs.Oversee the external audit process for Store inventory – both fuel and retail.Set controls and budgets to mitigate risk and increase return on investments.Standardize and maintain a system of accounting records and techniques.Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.Serve as primary contact for external auditors.QualificationsMinimum seven (7) years’ experience in Retail Accounting. Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills.Experience with a PDI and Laserfiche preferable.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff.Positive, can-do attitude and true ownership mentality.High energy and strong work ethic. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.Possess effective leadership, coaching and management behaviors.Ability to analyze data and generate insights, issues, and opportunities.Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
