Founded in 2010, The Ground Up (TGU) is Houston’s fastest growing landscape supply company. We manufacture mulches & soils and carry a large selection of base, gravels, and sand products. TGU also operates three re-wholesale nurseries in the Houston Metro Area.Job SummaryThe CDL A Driver will deliver product in a safe, efficient and conscientious manner. The CDL driver will deliver soils, mulch, and compost largely in the Houston metropolitan area. The CDL Driver has extensive city driving experience - especially the ability to navigate into tight residential developments and loading docks.Duties & ResponsibilitiesNotify management of any mechanical problems that occur during the delivery processProperly operate the assigned truck to transport TGU products ensuring it is loaded and securedFollow Company and DOT operating proceduresInspect vehicle’s serviceability and cleanliness dailyWear protective equipment and uniform as requiredDemonstrate proper use of truck and good driving habitsMaintain a professional and neat appearance at all timesAdhere to assigned routes and schedulesSubmit completed paperwork accurately and timelyMaintain good attendance, punctuality, and reliabilityMaintain communication with dispatch, shop and supervisorDisplay willingness to make decisions and solve problemsEstablish and maintain effective working relationshipsWork well in a team and offer assistance to co-workersUse unassigned time effectivelyOther duties and responsibilities as assignedEssential QualificationsHigh School diploma or GEDThree (3) years commercial driving experience with face to face customer interactionValid State issued CDL Class A or B driver’s license and a clean MVRAt least 21 years of age or olderAble to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAble to write routine reports and correspondenceEnd dump experienceKnowledgeable of, and accustomed to following, FMCSA regulations, and to properly maintaining and servicing their vehicleDesired QualificationsProven competency in drivingConsistently at work and on time, willing to work weather permittingDemonstrates accuracy and thoroughnessMeets productivity standardsObserves safety and security procedures; uses equipment and materials properlyPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
