Are you?About The RoleWe’re looking for a Scientist II on the protein engineering team to help us expand what’s possible for patients with serious diseases. Reporting to the Senior Director, Research, you’ll work within a multidisciplinary team of scientists focused on the design, engineering, and preclinical characterization of ground-breaking biotherapeutics. Specifically, you will help drive engineering and optimization campaigns for a diverse array of biomolecular scaffolds including binding and targeting moieties, signaling molecules, enzymes, and biological drug delivery platforms.What You'll DoIn this role, you’ll have the opportunity to help drive biomolecular engineering efforts within Insmed research projects, including strategy and methods development. You’ll also:Construct recombinant systems encoding protein variants and combinatorial protein librariesConceptualize, construct, qualify, and implement high throughput screening platforms to enable candidate selection from large panels and/or combinatorial libraries of engineered protein variantsConduct precision protein engineering to achieve specified design objectives, working both independently and in collaboration with computational biologistsDevise, optimize, and employ tailored protein expression and purification strategies for drug discovery programsDevelop, qualify, and deploy quantitative functional assays to characterize protein performance in vitroAssess therapeutic candidate performance using in vivo modelsContribute to collaborative prioritization and decision making on prospective discovery and development programsMaintain accurate, detailed, and timely records of methods development, experimental data, and data analysisParticipate in cross-disciplinary mentoring and training within the RDL NH teamPresent scientific results to the RDL NH team, Insmed research department, and external scientific community as needed, and assist with coordination and day-to-day management of RDL NH site operationsWho You AreYou have a PhD along with 4+ years of post-PhD experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering or related field.You Are Or You Also HaveTechnical understanding of, and hands-on experience with, molecular biology, recombinant DNA technology, protein mutagenesis, and protein biochemistryExpertise with recombinant protein expression and purificationExperience with routine protein characterization methods including but not limited to spectroscopy, SDS-PAGE, western blot, ELISAProven track record in experimental methods development, including experimental design, execution, and evaluationNice To Have (but Not Required)Experience with enzyme analysis a plusExperience in high throughput functional screen development for protein libraries strongly preferredExperience with lab automation strongly preferredExperience with next-generation sequencing strongly preferred.Where You’ll Work This role is based out of our New Hampshire Research Development Lab and requires full-time, in-person presence to support hands-on collaboration, access specialized equipment, and/or operational needs.Travel RequirementsMinimal travel expectedPay Range$127,000.00-165,500.00 AnnualLife at InsmedAt Insmed, you’ll find a culture as human as our mission—intentionally designed for the people behind it.
