Senior Process Control Engineer

Role OverviewAs a Process Control Engineer, you will be embedded directly within our client's project teams, working alongside their engineers and automation leads from day one of project design through commissioning and qualification. You will be expected to attend design reviews, understand why technical decisions are made, manage action items across vendors and stakeholders, and deliver high-quality automation solutions in a regulated GMP pharmaceutical environment.Job Responsibilities:Develop, review, and deploy PLC and HMI source code for process control and logistics automation systemsAttend and contribute to design reviews, vendor meetings, and project team meetings from early design phasesSupport Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), engineering shakedown, and commissioning activitiesDevelop and maintain automation design documentation, including System Overviews, Functional Specifications, Design Specifications, and System Configuration SpecificationsManage action items across multiple vendors and stakeholders, and communicate status clearly to project leadsSupport integration of warehouse control systems, historian systems, and third-party equipment into existing automation architectureMaintain source code configuration management and deployment tracking throughout the project lifecycleTravel to client sites and vendor facilities as required for project supportRequired Qualifications:5 to 8 years of experience in industrial automation or process control engineeringStrong proficiency in Rockwell ControlLogix PLC programming and FactoryTalk View HMI developmentDemonstrated experience delivering automation projects independently, from design through commissioningAbility to read and review electrical drawings, network architecture diagrams, and control system documentationStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple action items and priorities simultaneouslyWillingness to travel regularly to client sites and vendor facilitiesPreferred Qualifications:Experience in a GMP pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environmentSiemens TIA Portal PLC and Siemens HMI development experienceFamiliarity with Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)Experience with SAP EWM or similar enterprise warehouse management platformsSource code configuration management and deployment experience in a validated environmentSafety PLC design and electrical safety architecture experienceExperience with historian systems, RFID, barcode systems, or industrial networkingDetail and Travel Expectations Location: LocationTravel and Relocation DetailsIndianapolis, INThis role begins in Indianapolis, working on a large-scale logistics automation project starting in March 2027. We are ideally looking for someone open to eventually relocating to the Kenosha and Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, as the role transitions to a long-term project there following Indianapolis. We are also open to candidates already based in Wisconsin who are willing to work out of Indianapolis for the duration of the initial project before returning home. At a minimum, candidates must be comfortable with regular travel to Wisconsin once the Indianapolis project is complete.Raleigh, NCThis role is based in or near Raleigh, North Carolina, and serves as an on-site anchor for automation support at a large pharmaceutical manufacturing campus. Local candidates or those willing to relocate to the Raleigh area are strongly preferred. Some travel to other sites within the region may be required.
