Plant Controller
Position Summary
The Plant Controller is a hands-on, plant-based leader responsible for providing timely, actionable financial and operational information to support execution in fast growing ETO/ CTO manufacturing facility. The role is heavily focused on weekly operational reporting, job performance tracking, cost visibility, and cross-functional support, while also managing or supervising HR administration, payroll, accounts payable, general administration, and customer quoting support.
This position serves as a key business partner to plant leadership, operations, engineering, and project management, ensuring that financial and operational data is accurate, current, and decision-oriented.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Weekly Reporting
Produce timely weekly operational and financial reports covering job performance, labor utilization, material usage, margins, backlog, and cash drivers
Maintain real-time visibility into project cost, WIP, and forecast-to-complete for ETO jobs
Partner with operations, engineering, and project management to identify cost overruns, schedule risks, and margin erosion early
Translate financial and operational data into clear, practical insights for plant leadership
Support daily and weekly production meetings with accurate cost and performance metrics
Cost Accounting & ETO Job Support
Own job costing, labor tracking, overhead allocation, and variance analysis in an ETO environment
Monitor project margins throughout the lifecycle and proactively flag financial risks or improvement opportunities
Support pricing strategy and cost modeling for customer quotes and change orders
Ensure accurate setup and maintenance of jobs, routings, and cost structures in the ERP system
Accounts Payable, Payroll & Cash Management
Manage and supervise accounts payable to ensure accurate, timely processing of vendor invoices
Manage and supervise payroll processing, timekeeping controls, and labor cost accuracy
Oversee cash flow management through effective tracking of payables, purchases, labor, and project billing drivers
Manage and report on working capital and cash forecasting
Human Resources Administration
Manage or supervise plant-level HR administrative activities, candidate sourcing, including onboarding, benefits administration, administering HR policies and employee records
Ensure accurate labor reporting and compliance with payroll and employment requirements
General Administration
Oversee plant administrative functions including office operations, and internal controls
Maintain practical, efficient processes that support plant execution rather than bureaucracy
Serve as the primary administrative and financial point of contact at the plant
Leadership & Collaboration
Lead, mentor, and develop administrative staff
Act as a trusted business partner to the Plant Manager and operations leadership
Drive continuous improvement in reporting cadence, data accuracy, and decision usefulness
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
7+ years of experience in manufacturing finance or plant accounting
Strong Acumatica ERP system experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong experience in Engineer-to-Order (ETO)/ Configure-to-order (CTO) or project-based manufacturing
Demonstrated ability to deliver weekly operational and job-level reporting
Experience managing or supervising payroll, AP, and administrative functions
Preferred
CPA, CMA, or MBA
Experience supporting production, engineering, or project management teams directly
Prior plant-level role with broad operational responsibility
Experience supporting customer quoting and pricing decisions
