Director of ManufacturingReports to: Integrator/COODirect Reports: Manufacturing Coordinator, Engineers, Production TechniciansKey Partners: Project Management, Creative, Install, FinanceSummary:The Director of Manufacturing owns Decorworx's fabrication function end-to-end-Engineering through Print, Route, Weld, Paint, Wood, and Assembly-delivering safe operations, first-run quality, on-time output, and disciplined cost control. This leader builds and scales a high-performing team of craftspeople, optimizes workflows and equipment capacity, and partners tightly with Creative, Project Management, Procurement, and Install to meet customer deadlines and budgets. They steward morale and culture on the shop floor, implement lean practices, and report performance to the leadership team with clear, actionable KPIs.Key Responsibilities:Strategy, Planning & ThroughputOwn the master production schedule and capacity plan across all shopsWork with Manufacturing Coordinator to balance crews, shifts, and machines to hit promised dates.Run weekly production huddles and SQDC boards (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) to visualize flow, unblock work, and drive accountability.Strategize for company growth and how to open capacity effectively to meet new demands without increasing benchmark %s in COGs and Expenses.People Leadership & CultureLead, manage, and hold accountable (LMA) all fabrication team members; hire, onboard, coach, succession-plan, and recognize performance.Push for excellent collaboration and return and report structure between Manufacturing Director and Manufacturing Coordinator for maximum output and day to day thought-leadership at appropriate levels.Set a safety-first, craftsmanship-proud culture; maintain clear roles, training matrices, and certification/skills ladders.Coordinate a rotating schedule with the Install Director for all direct reports to work alongside (either in-shop or on-site) Finishers for camaraderie, training, and greater perspective to improve quality and career performance.Safety, Compliance & MaintenanceEnsure EHS (environmental health and safety) compliance (PPE, LOTO, ventilation/finish areas, material handling). Work with Asset Director to maintain OSHA record keeping and safety signoffs for all workstations and team members.Standardize workplace safety signage and keep safety communication current.Build a practical quality management system (procedures, in-process and final checks, corrective actions, document control) per each department and machine. Work with Manufacturing Coordinator to ensure day to day compliance.Engineering & Technical EnablementConvert Creative concepts into build-ready engineering specs.Ensure continued adherence to SOPs for providing quality information to inform manufacturing team members and finishers of the build intent.Own release quality and timing from Engineering to the floor; minimize RFIs (request for information) and drawing-caused rework.Materials, Equipment & Cost ManagementOptimize material plans with Purchasing; reduce scrap and obsolescence; set min/max and cycle counts; measure yield.Track OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) at constraint equipment/cells to target availability, performance, and quality losses.Ensure inventory counts are happening monthly/quarterly (as requested) and loss % numbers continue to improve.Own fabrication budget (labor, materials, consumables, maintenance); deliver year-over-year productivity and cost-per-unit improvements using a KPI dashboard. (Industry KPI sets commonly include OTD, FPY, OEE, scrap, and labor efficiency.)Oversee relationships and financial investments with outside fabrication vendors ensuring the proper balance of use for the greatest ROI for the company.Cross-Functional CommunicationOwns and enforces SOPs for production team communication so every project's status, handoff, and next step is clear to internal partners (Project Management, Logistics, Install).Oversees use of project management and scheduling software; ensures all work orders, milestones, and completions are logged, visible, and accurate in real time.Requires consistent reporting and updates from Manufacturing Coordinator and craftsmen, making sure completed tasks, delays, or issues are communicated promptly and documented.Acts as the high-level communication hub for engineering and fabrication, translating shop progress into leadership-level reporting and ensuring other departments know exactly where projects stand.Qualifications:7+ years in manufacturing or production leadershipProven track record leading teams and managing department performanceDeep working knowledge of materials and processes: wide-format print, CNC routing/laser, metal fab/welding, finishing/paint, millwork, and complex assemblies.Strong communicator and people leader-capable of both setting vision and delivering feedbackKnowledge of Lean principles, ERP/workflow systems, and production schedulingFamiliarity with EOS tools (L10s, Scorecards, Rocks) a mustEmbodies our Core Values and leads by exampleCommitment to high-quality output and an organized, clean working environment (5S system)Strong EHS (environmental health and safety) literacy (OSHA practices and required record keeping).Passionate about people, problem solving, creating, and long-term success
