Forward Deployed Engineer (DevOps)Location: Northern Virginia / HybridCompensation: Up to $230,000 base + 20% bonus + equityWant to work in AI, but don't have years of AI experience?I'm working with one of the fastest-growing AI companies in the market who are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer with a strong software engineering and DevOps background to join their growing team.The company has reached a $1B+ valuation, and has built an enterprise AI platform used across highly regulated and mission-critical environments.This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, DevOps and customer delivery.You'll work directly with enterprise customers to take applications from development into production, deploying software into customer-managed environments across public cloud, hybrid and on-prem infrastructure.You'll be hands-on with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Docker and CI/CD, while still writing code and working closely with engineering teams to solve problems that arise during real-world deployments.This isn't a role where you'll spend your day maintaining infrastructure or configuring YAML. They're looking for an engineer who can build software as well as deploy it.You'll also get the opportunity to work with Agentic AI, LLMs and production AI applications. You don't need to be an AI expert coming in. The team is happy for you to develop that expertise on the job. Strong software engineering and deployment fundamentals are much more important.You could be a great fit if you:Started your career in software engineering and moved towards DevOps, cloud or deployment engineering — or have gone the other way.Have personally deployed applications into customer or enterprise environments.Are strong with Kubernetes and have experience with Helm and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform.Have deployed applications across AWS, Azure, GCP or other public cloud environments.Can genuinely code — Python, Java, TypeScript/JavaScript or similar.Have worked directly with customers and enjoy solving technical problems with them.Want to move deeper into AI without having to already be an AI/ML specialist.Experience with LLMs, RAG, AI Agents or MLOps would be useful, but it's not essential.This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to both the technology and the customer, wants ownership over what they deliver, and is interested in building their career at the intersection of software engineering, DevOps and AI.Interested?
