DescriptionJob Title: Custodian 6- NightPosition Function: The primary job of the Night lead Custodian is to assist the custodial staff of a building in providing a clean, safe and sanitary environment for the students and staff. Perform a variety of custodial tasks for the building or campus. Will assist with supervising, directing, instructing and training of custodial personnel in routine and non-routine duties, with special emphasis on safety procedures.Essential Performance ResponsibilitiesPerform daily duties in assigned areas that may include, but not limited to--Dusting all flat surfacesEmptying wastebasketsEmptying pencil sharpenersSweeping floorsStraightening desksMop and/or spot mopCleaning equipment and replacing suppliesCleaning and servicing restroomsSweep assigned hallways, stairs and landingsLower flag if necessaryClean gym, locker room, and auditoriumAssist with the clean-up of the lunch roomClean fountainsClean sinks, counters, and desk topsCheck the building for vandalismPerform weekly duties which may include, but not limited to--BuffHigh dustingCarpet spottingReplace light bulbs as neededClean whiteboardsStrip, seal and wax floorsWash walls, lockers and furnitureClean carpetsPerform energy management functions such as--Turn off day lights, turn on night lightsTurn off water in urinalsUnplug water fountainsCheck thermostatsCheck boilerOther items requested by the supervisor as found in the energy management guidelinesConsult with Building Custodial Supervisor relating to school activities and community use of building and arrange needed services and cleaningRespond to office and staff request (including set-up of TV, DVR, audio systems, etc.)Report building maintenance needs or supplies and equipment needs to Head CustodianSecure your area by checking windows, doors and lights before leaving the buildingInspect assigned area for cleanliness and quality workAssist employees with their Employee Performance Appraisal as requestedRemove marks from floors and graffiti from walls as neededPerform duties relating to recycling as requestedRespond to emergencies in an appropriate mannerAdditional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor.Equipment: Uses hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, shovels, power mower and hand tools. The ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine.
