Jiffy is a technology-driven leader in the promotional product blank apparel space, empowering crafters and small businesses through digital infrastructure, automation, and services. As we expand our platform to support the creator economy, we are seeking a Controller role. We've built Jiffy from the ground up, and we're still building. Our finance function needs to keep pace with a business that's scaling fast and operating lean. That's where you come in.Full-Scope Accounting & CloseOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process end to end, general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and flux analysis. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) in accordance with GAAPBuild and deliver the monthly financial package, full P&L broken out by business unit, with line-item detail that gives leadership real visibility into what's driving resultsOwn the Weekly Business Review (WBR) financial reporting, daily cost loads, post-order costs, actuals vs. system data, and courier cost reconciliation to catch inconsistencies in real timeForecast the total P&L for the upcoming month in partnership with FP&A and General Managers, gathering post-order data, understanding cost inputs, and pressure-testing assumptionsWork directly with external auditors, managing the full audit relationship, timeline, and deliverablesOwn tax compliance coordination, serve as the internal point of contact for our external tax advisors, consolidate reporting, and prepare standalone financial statements for each entityManage all balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accounts are clean and well-documentedOperational & Cost AccountingOwn inventory accounting across Jiffy's distribution network, valuation, reserves, cycle count reconciliation, shrinkage, and obsolescence analysisBuild and maintain COGS reporting by product line, channel, and facilityDevelop freight, fulfillment, and distribution cost allocation methodologies that give operations and leadership clear visibility into unit economicsCapture every cost that flows through the business from purchase order through last-mile delivery to report accurate bottom-line EBITDAPartner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure financial data reflects what's actually happening in the warehouse and on the trucksProcess, Systems & Controls Build-OutAssess current accounting processes and controls, identify what's working, what's missing, and what needs to be rebuiltDesign and implement internal controls appropriate for Jiffy's stage: credit card spend controls, AP management, invoice approval workflows, and flagging of unusual or out-of-policy expensesImprove or implement systems and tools to support the accounting function (ERP, close management, expense management, etc.). Sage Intacct experience is a strong plusCreate scalable reporting templates and dashboards that reduce manual effort and improve accuracyDocument processes so the function can scale beyond one person when the time comesAI & AutomationUse AI tools to streamline data gathering for month-end reporting, we're actively looking to automate the manual data collection that slows down the closeIdentify opportunities to apply AI across the accounting function: reconciliation automation, anomaly detection, cost variance analysis, and reporting workflowsBuild and share repeatable AI-assisted workflows with the broader finance team at Jiffy, we expect everyone to leverage AI to increase their output and accuracyBusiness PartnershipProvide financial analysis and insights to leadership, especially on cost structure, margin drivers, and operational efficiencySupport FP&A and strategic finance with clean actuals, variance explanations, and ad hoc analysisCollaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and technology teams on initiatives with financial impactRequirementsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required: finance, accounting, or related field4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a controller or senior accounting roleDirect experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting in a product-based, distribution, or ecommerce businessHands-on experience managing the full close cycle and external audit processDemonstrated ability to build or significantly improve accounting processes and controls, not just inherit and maintain themAdvanced Excel skills, you're a power user, comfortable working with large data sets and building models from scratchComfort using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar) to increase speed, accuracy, and output in day-to-day accounting workPreferred Qualifications:Big 4 public accounting background with subsequent industry experienceExperience at a high-growth or mid-market ecommerce or distribution companyExperience with Sage Intacct or similar mid-market ERP (NetSuite, SAP)Familiarity with ecommerce platforms, warehouse management systems, or 3PL accountingExperience with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) for financial reportingSQL or other data querying skillsBenefitsTotal compensation may include base salary, performance-based commission, equity, and benefits.
