Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Field) Position Summary The Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Field) is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment directly at job sites across the DFW area. This role requires a self-motivated, experienced mechanic who can work independently in the field, respond quickly to equipment issues, and keep operations running with minimal downtime.Key Responsibilities Travel to job sites to diagnose and repair heavy equipment in the fieldPerform troubleshooting on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical componentsComplete preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on-siteRepair or replace parts including hoses, cylinders, pumps, motors, and electrical componentsOperate service truck and maintain proper inventory of tools and commonly used partsCommunicate effectively with operators, foremen, and management regarding equipment statusDocument repairs, inspections, and parts usage accuratelyPrioritize service calls based on operational needs and urgencyEnsure all work is completed in compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standardsEquipment Worked On ExcavatorsBulldozersWheel loadersSkid steers and compact track loadersAttachments (grapples, shears, breakers, etc.)Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic (field experience preferred)Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systemsAbility to troubleshoot and repair equipment with minimal supervisionExperience with diagnostic tools and software preferredValid driver's license required (CDL required)Welding and fabrication skills are a plusStrong problem-solving and time management skillsWork Environment & Physical Requirements Primarily field-based at active construction/demolition job sitesMust be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditionsAbility to lift 50+ lbs, climb on/off equipment, and work in tight or elevated spacesExposure to dust, noise, and heavy machineryCompensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay based on experienceOvertime opportunitiesCompany-provided service truckHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company match up to 5% of your salaryPaid time off and holidays
