Principal Responsibilities:The Board of Directors of NJY Camps seeks a CEO with successful executive, management, and development experience who has a vision for Jewish camping and community to lead NJY Camps into its next phase of innovation, programmatic excellence and philanthropic success.The CEO is the chief professional officer of NJY Camps, managing all fundraising and executive functions, partnering with and accountable to the Board of Directors. NJY Campscurrently employs 27 year-round professionals, including a senior management group that reports to the CEO.The new CEO will provide leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of NJY Camps, focusing their efforts in three main areas:Organizational and Financial Management:Working with a mission driven team with varied levels of experience to build and reinforce a culture of care, accountability, excitement and an appetite for innovation and service while ensuring financial strength and stability for the organization.Vision:Engaging professional and lay stakeholders in an innovative plan to continue to build camping programs and experiences of excellence for Jewish families from all denominations in the Jewish community.Fundraising:Partnering with lay leaders and staff to build an organizational culture of philanthropy to increase major gifts, address capital needs, and engage alumni and community stakeholders in the organizational health and growth of NJY Camps.The CEO will lead the organization into its next phase of strategic growth. Entrepreneurial and attuned to donor interests and concerns, the CEO will ensure the financial strength and stability of the organization by focusing on donor engagement, board development and recruitment and will work closely with the camp directors and the senior team on strategic issues and camp growth. Partnering with the CFO, the CEO will make sure that the budget remains on target, and that all administrative and financial matters are handled effectively.The successful candidate brings proven fundraising success; deep understanding and passion for Jewish camp and the impact Jewish camping provides; the ability to partner with volunteer and professional leadership to shape and achieve the organization's short- and long-term goals and objectives; experience in a matrixed supervisory environment; comfort and understanding of cross denominational observance in Jewish life, profound connection to the state of Israel and the ability to create a culture of care, creativity, and accountability for the organization.Minimum Qualifications:RESPONSIBILITIESOrganizational Management:Lead, motivate, and supervise senior leadership professionals, creating a positive team culture of creativity,innovation, accountability, and best-in-class operations.Serve as the chief professional officer responsible for overseeing and managing organizational financialmanagement and accountability, philanthropic activity and donor engagement, planning & evaluation,community and stakeholder engagement, and overall organizational administration.Serve as professional advisor to the Board in all areas of program, finance, agency policy and governance.Partner with the Board Chair to engage, cultivate, recruit, and retain lay leadership, prospects and donors.Fundraising and Financial Management:As the lead development professional for NJY Camps, personally solicit and steward major donors, engage andre-engage new and former donors to provide financial support for capital improvements, camper scholarshipsand organizational needs.Partner with the current development team to engage camp alumni, camp community members and majordonors with emphasis on the development of strategies to scale fundraising efforts.Motivate and train both lay leaders and camp professionals in fundraising efforts to build a culture ofphilanthropy across NJY Camps.Regularly evaluate and review the management and status of the agencys financial resources and steward thebudget process to improve procedures, initiatives, and results.Vision:Increase NJY Camp's visibility to expand the community's understanding of NJYs mission and services as wellas enhance its reputation as a provider of Jewish camping programs.Partner with lay and professional stakeholders to create a vision for NJY Camps focused on growth andinnovation.Partner with staff to assess the strengths and growth areas of all programs and build a plan to double-downon strengths and address challenges.Serve as the face and voice of the NJY Camps in the Jewish community to inspire and build partnerships,engagement, participation, and commitment from new and current lay leaders, donors, and stakeholders.Develop and cultivate relationships with relevant national and international Jewish organizations to leveragenew ideas, perspectives, and collaborative approaches.Qualifications:CEO or C-Suite experience in an organization or agency comparable to NJY Camps.A proven track record of fundraising, an understanding of philanthropic culture creation, major giftsfundraising, donor stewardship, campaign growth, and development communications.Passion and understanding of the Jewish identity impact potential of Jewish camping and informal Jewisheducation as well as a strong personal connection to the State of Israel.Advanced finance and business acumen with a proactive and forward-thinking approach.Track record of strong supervision, consensus-based team building and decision making, as well as positive,engaging culture building.Experience partnering with and building a board, understanding effective governance.An open, accessible, and accountable leadership style and approach, showing sensitivity to all viewpoints.Ability to partner with and engage professional and volunteer leaders and key stakeholders.Compelling and effective oral and written communication skills for both lay and professional constituencies,showcasing active listening to the ideas and concerns of others.Personal commitment to ethical behavior in all aspects of professional practice as well as the values of theJewish community, Jewish identity, and Israel.Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.Benefits:NJY Camps offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes a PTO program, paid state and Jewish holidays, professional development funds, health insurance as well as additional benefits coverage for this role.NJY Camps provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.
