Status : Full Time 12.5 Flex Shift: 12.5 HOUR VARIED SHIFT Department: Cardiovascular Surgery Position Summary Summary: The Chief PA - (Cardiothoracic ICU/CT) provide support and accountability as an experienced PA in the clinical area of expertise, and displays leadership and mentorship to designated PA team, associated medical teams and staff.The Chief PA - (Cardiothoracic ICU/CT Surgery) maintains clinical responsibility for patient care with supervising physician, and in collaboration with associated medical teams and staffing. He/she performs a broad spectrum of care regarding critical thinking, diagnosis, ordering of medications and diagnostics, and performance of corrective, preventive and therapeutic measures in the inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient setting. Assumes medical staff privileging under the scope of practice of a delegated physician determined by Mount Sinai Health System, and the department of hire. The Clinically Advanced PA will have clinical expertise in the specialty of hire of greater than 5 years and operates as a role model for clinical care in the area of hire. The Chief PA assumes a leadership role managing a PA team, and responsible for all the associated duties. Qualifications Responsibilities: Education Required • Must complete in-house orientation program• Graduation from Accredited Physician Assistant Program, Masters preferred• Masters preferred.Experience And Skills • Excellent interpersonal skills• Speaks, reads and writes English• 5 years of more of experience in clinical specialty of hire and/or leadership role of a medical team/PA team• Basic Microsoft Office Use• Previous Epic software use preferredLicense/Certifications • NCCPA Board Certification• New York State Licensure• DEA Licensure• BLS and ACLS Certification• Infection Control Certification Working Conditions Other information: Working Conditions • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn• Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and demonstrate dexterity for short or extended periods of time
