DevOps Engineer
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer (Cloud DevOps Engineer 2) to support the design, development, and implementation of cloud-based solutions in a secure federal environment. The candidate will play a key role in enabling efficient software delivery, infrastructure automation, and system reliability. This role involves technical planning, system integration, CI/CD pipeline management, and continuous improvement of DevOps processes to enhance system performance, scalability, and security. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in cloud infrastructure, automation, and troubleshooting, with the ability to solve complex technical challenges and support mission-critical systems. Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens ONLY due to legal or government contract requirements.Key Responsibilities Develop and implement DevOps strategies and integration methodologies for cloud-based solutions. Perform technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation for enterprise systems. Conduct cost, risk, and supportability analysis for cloud and hybrid environments. Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid and reliable deployments. Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot functionality, performance, and configuration issues. Analyze trends and metrics to identify opportunities for process and system improvements. Support release management, including rapid deployment of bug fixes and enhancements. Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and security teams. Maintain documentation for systems, pipelines, and configurations. Ensure compliance with security standards and federal regulations. Core Technical Requirements / Required Skill Set 1. AWS Infrastructure Fundamentals Strong understanding of AWS services such as EC2, EBS, VPC, IAM, and S3 Experience managing and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure Knowledge of networking concepts (subnets, routing, security groups) 2. Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) Experience writing and managing Terraform configurations Understanding of state management, modules, and environments Ability to troubleshoot deployment failures 3. Source Control (Git / GitLab Preferred) Proficiency with Git workflows (branching, merging, version control) Experience with GitLab or similar platforms Ability to manage infrastructure code changes 4. CI/CD Pipelines Experience with pipeline-based deployments (build, test, deploy stages) Ability to troubleshoot pipeline failures Automation of infrastructure and application deployments 5. System Administration (Linux) Strong Linux administration skills (services, permissions, file systems) Experience managing server configurations and performance Ability to troubleshoot system-level issues 6. Security Hardening & STIG Compliance Knowledge of system hardening practices Familiarity with STIGs or similar security frameworks Ability to implement and validate secure configurations 7. Backup and Recovery Understanding of backup strategies and disaster recovery principles Experience verifying backups and performing restores 8. ServiceNow (Basic Administration) Familiarity with ServiceNow platform and environments Ability to support administrative and operational tasks Understanding infrastructure impact on platform performance 9. Troubleshooting & Operational Support Strong problem-solving skills across infrastructure, pipelines, and applications Experience supporting production environments Ability to diagnose multi-layer technical issues Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field Minimum 8 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or related roles Strong experience with AWS cloud platform Hands-on experience with Terraform and CI/CD tools Strong understanding of system integration and DevOps lifecycle Experience working in secure or regulated environments Excellent analytical and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) Familiarity with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Datadog) Knowledge of DevSecOps practices Experience in Agile or Scrum environments Prior experience supporting federal or government projects Certifications IAT Level II (Required) At least one cloud certification (Required), such as: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer AWS Certified Solutions Architect Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer CompTIA Cloud+
