Fiber Optic Technician – Structured Cabling (Houston)

Network Cabling Services (NCS) is hiring experienced Fiber Optic Technicians to support commercial, industrial, and data center projects in the Houston area and surrounding regions. This role requires travel and strong hands-on experience in fiber installation, testing, and troubleshooting within critical environments. What You’ll Do Perform fusion splicing of fiber optic cables Terminate fiber using anaerobic connectors (LC, ST, SC) Conduct testing using OTDR and power meters Troubleshoot and resolve fiber optic issues in the field Ensure all work meets industry and safety standards Install, route, and manage fiber within data center environments Must be able to travel Data Center Experience (Required) Experience working in live/critical data center environments Knowledge of structured cabling systems (fiber & copper) Familiarity with: Rack and stack installations Cable tray and ladder rack systems Patch panels and cross-connects Ability to follow strict change management and access protocols Understanding TIA-942 standards and data center best practices. What It Takes to Succeed Strong experience with: Fusion splicing Fiber termination Fiber testing and troubleshooting Ability to work in fast-paced, high-security environments Strong attention to detail and documentation Willingness to travel for project assignments Qualifications Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in: Fiber splicing (Required) Fiber termination (Required) Fiber testing (OTDR, power meters) Proven data center experience (Required) Working knowledge of BICSI, EIA/TIA, NEC, and TIA-942 standards Valid Driver’s License (Required) Work Environment Commercial, industrial, and data center job sites Multiple project locations Travel required based on project needs
