Job Title: Linux & Windows Administrator (VMware & Cloud)Duration: Long TermLocation: Dallas, TXJob Summary:We are seeking a skilled Linux & Windows Administrator with strong VMware and Cloud experience to manage enterprise server environments. The role requires hands-on expertise in Linux distributions (SUSE, Red Hat, Ubuntu, AWS Linux) and Windows Server platforms, along with experience in migrations, troubleshooting critical incidents (P1/P2), and ITIL-based operations.Key ResponsibilitiesCore System AdministrationProvide L2 support for Solaris and Linux and L3 support for Windows operating systems, including troubleshooting, administration, and performance tuningPerform installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades across Solaris, Linux, and Windows environmentsMonitor and optimize system performance, resource utilization, and overall platform healthExecute server provisioning, commissioning, and decommissioning for both physical and virtual systemsIncident & Service ManagementManage incidents, service requests, and problem resolution in alignment with defined SLAsHandle P1/P2 critical incidents, perform root cause analysis, and ensure quick service restorationFollow ITIL processes (Incident, Request, Change, Problem Management)Windows & Linux ExpertiseStrong experience with:Linux: RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu, AWS LinuxWindows: Server 2012, 2016, 2019/2022, and latest versions (2025 readiness)Perform OS upgrades and migration activities across platformsVMware & VirtualizationProvide L2 support for VMware infrastructure, including:Managing VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environmentMonitoring vCenter and ESXi hostsVM provisioning, configuration, and operations (power, snapshot, resource allocation)Handle routine alerts and initial issue troubleshootingEscalate complex issues to L3 with proper documentationWorking knowledge of NSX-T and vSANCloud & Backup OperationsManage and support server environments in AWS cloud platformsSupport backup, restore, and recovery activities for servers and virtual machinesSecurity & ComplianceEnsure security compliance by applying patches, addressing vulnerabilities, and following enterprise standardsParticipate in audits and ensure adherence to security best practicesCollaboration & DocumentationCollaborate with infrastructure, network, and application teams for cross-platform issue resolutionMaintain technical documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooksCoordinate with vendors and third-party teams for escalationsAutomation & Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities for automation and process optimizationWork with teams to develop and implement automation tools/scriptsSupport continuous service improvement initiativesOperations SupportSupport routine maintenance tasks including patching cycles and health checksParticipate in on-call rotation and handle high-severity incidentsRequired Skills & Experience5–10 years of experience in Linux & Windows system administrationStrong troubleshooting skills for application and OS-level issues during outagesHands-on experience with VMware (vSphere, VCF, ESXi, vCenter)Experience with AWS cloud server managementStrong understanding of OS migrations and upgradesITIL process knowledge (Incident, Change, Problem Management)Good to HaveKnowledge of Solaris (secondary skill)Experience with automation tools (Shell scripting, Ansible, PowerShell, etc.)Exposure to enterprise monitoring and backup toolsSoft SkillsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work under pressure in critical situationsExcellent communication and coordination skillsCertification (Preferred)RHCE / RHCSAMicrosoft Certified (Windows Server / Azure)VMware Certified Professional (VCP)ITIL Foundation
