Area Manager - AggregatesThe Area Manager leads multiple quarry operations within a defined region, typically producing 1M+ tons annually. This role focuses on developing plant leaders, driving operational consistency, and aligning operations with sales and construction to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality results.We're looking for a people-first leader who builds strong teams, takes ownership of performance, and approaches challenges with a thoughtful, solutions-oriented mindset.This position is based in Birmingham, AL and will report to the Division Vice President - Aggregates.Key Responsibilities:Lead, coach, and develop plant managers, building a culture of accountability and growthEnsure safe, consistent, and efficient operations across multiple sitesDrive cost performance and support budgeting and financial accountabilityPartner with sales and construction teams to align production with demandMaintain high standards for quality, process control, and continuous improvementImprove equipment reliability through strong maintenance practicesSupport and execute capital projects that enhance operational performanceRequirements:5-10+ years of experience in aggregates, mining, asphalt, or heavy civil operations Proven leadership experience managing multiple teams or sites Strong understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, plant operations, production processes, and cost drivers Demonstrated ability to develop people, build teams, and drive performance Experience with budgeting, financial performance, and operational planning Ability to think critically and develop creative, practical solutions to operational challenges Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments Willingness to travel regularly between plant locationsPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field Experience working cross-functionally with sales and construction teams Background in continuous improvement or operational excellence initiativesWhy you should work for Wiregrass Construction:At Wiregrass Construction, we know our employees are our success, and we provide opportunities that allow them to grow and build meaningful careers.
