Maintenance Technician

Duties
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and electrical equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure safety.
Troubleshoot and repair appliances, HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, AirConditioning/Refrigeration),and mechanical systems using schematics and technical manuals.
Conduct repairs on equipment including motors, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical components with precision.
Assist with construction or renovation projects by installing new equipment or upgrading existing systems.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used to ensure compliance and facilitate future troubleshooting.
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
Lead small teams or coordinate with contractors during complex repairs or installations when necessary.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a service technician or maintenance technician with a strong background in appliance repair and equipment troubleshooting.
Knowledge of schematics, technical manuals, HVAC/R systems, refrigeration technology, and mechanical principles.
Hands-on experience with HVAC systems including air conditioning units and ventilation systems.
Experience in electrical DC and AC, welding, pipe fitting, steam plant operation and metal fabrication.
Must be familiar with maintenance functions in relation to the operating procedures of all equipment plant wide
Must be familiar with all building systems for all Akron locations (i.e. heating, plumbing, electrical).
Mechanical knowledge related to construction, equipment repair, and general maintenance practices.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams accurately.
Strong problem-solving skills coupled with leadership qualities to guide team efforts when needed.
