You can work remotely during the contract period, but once you convert to a full-time employee, you will be required to relocate to Springfield, MO and work onsite.Summary: Capstone IT is helping our client to find a Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to support, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize large-scale PostgreSQL databases that power critical business applications. This contract role is highly hands-on and requires someone equally strong in PostgreSQL administration, advanced SQL, and Linux command-line work. The DBA will manage PostgreSQL versions 9.x, 12.x, and 16.x, handle upgrades and migrations, troubleshoot production performance, support developers, manage backup/recovery and replication, and participate in production support and on-call activities.This position is 40% on database administration and 60% on SQL performance and application support. Top 4 SkillsPostgreSQL Administration — Enterprise production experience managing PostgreSQL, including multiple versions.Advanced SQL & Performance Tuning — Complex SQL, execution plans, indexing, statistics, vacuuming, and query optimization.Linux Administration — Strong command-line troubleshooting and database administration in Linux.Backup, Recovery, Replication & Migrations — Hands-on experience protecting, moving, upgrading, and restoring production databases.ResponsibilitiesAdminister PostgreSQL 9.x, 12.x, and 16.x databases in Linux production environments.Install, patch, upgrade, and migrate PostgreSQL environments.Manage backups, recovery processes, and disaster recovery planning.Diagnose database performance issues using query plans, indexing, statistics, vacuuming, and SQL tuning.Write and troubleshoot advanced DDL, DML, stored procedures, and complex SQL.Partner with developers to troubleshoot database and application performance issues.Perform database refreshes, cloning, replication, and routine maintenance.Administer environments through Linux command-line tools and shell scripting.Participate in production support, change management, and on-call rotations.Create operational documentation and improve support processes.QualificationsExtensive PostgreSQL DBA experience in enterprise production environments.Strong Linux command-line administration skills.Strong ability to write and interpret SQL, including DDL and DMLStrong database performance-tuning experience.Experience with PostgreSQL backup/recovery, replication, migrations, and upgrades.Bash/shell scripting knowledge.Puppet, YAML, cloud, and automation experience are beneficial.Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
