While we offer a suite of manufacturing services, our North Carolina plant specializes in Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), and our Material Handler & Machine Technicians are a critical piece to ensuring our customers receive the best quality parts through our processes.Protolabs Career SpotlightJoin our team as an Material Handler & Machine Technician - Metals.This position is ONSITE based in North Carolina.Shift: Tues - Sat 10 am - 7 pmYou Will:Work with Production Manager, Process Engineering, Lead Scheduler to manage machine build scheduleMaintain a clean and safe laboratory environment and assist with the restocking of suppliesAssist in the removal and disposal of contaminated materials according to Proto Lab proceduresIdentify improvements in process flow and recommend solutionsObserve all Proto Lab Safety and Quality ProceduresUse established procedures and work instructions to set up production equipment for operationOperate raw material handling processes as needed to ensure raw materials inventories are at the correct level after each run of production equipmentPerform machine turnarounds and material swapsLoad machines with appropriate production material according to written procedures ahead of scheduled production runsStart production builds according to scheduleUnload completed builds and stage for post build processingCommunicate all machine and build issues with appropriate management and/or maintenance personnelAct as first responder to machine problems with builds and equipment issuesMonitor and log the traceability and storage of production materials and consumables in the machine labStrictly follow procedural guidelines to blend various materials to ensure consistent product qualityPerform additional duties as assignedCross training will be completed dependent on business needs.You Have:Demonstrated computer aptitude for working with complex database applicationsDemonstrated technical aptitudeOperational experience in a professional manufacturing environmentProven ability to learn new techniquesMust be able to read, write and speak English fluentlyStrong communication skills and attention to detailAbility to follow detailed instructionsAbility to establish, maintain, and work within a highly procedural-oriented environmentAssertive personality with strong interpersonal skills and positive attitudeWorks well in a team environmentDemonstrated working knowledge of additive manufacturing Machines pertinent to the position.Education and Experience:High School Diploma or equivalentPhysical Demands:While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is expected to sit and stand for the entire shift, lift up to 50 pounds waist high, carry up to 50 pounds alone. Essential job duties require reaching, bending, and grasping. Able to read machine-shop gauges and indicators.Work Environment:Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in a manufacturing setting requiring normal safety precautions (eye protection and hearing protection). Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
