Orthopaedics (Spine Focus)Location: Portsmouth, NH | Dover NH, | York, MEPractice: Atlantic Orthopaedics & Sports MedicineAtlantic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is seeking an Orthopedic Physician Assistant to join our dynamic team in Portsmouth, NH. This full-time position will primarily support our fellowship-trained spine surgeon and requires a strong background in orthopaedics, including clinic-based care and inpatient consults.Our ideal candidate is passionate about patient care, demonstrates excellent clinical judgment, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Position OverviewThe Physician Assistant (PA) will work under the supervision of our spine physician to deliver high-quality, comprehensive care in both the hospital and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include a blend of clinic and OR coverage with the goal of providing efficient and effective care across the continuum.Key ResponsibilitiesA. Hospital DutiesPerform consultations and initial assessments in the Emergency DepartmentAdmit patients: perform H&Ps, order and interpret labs/imaging, and write progress notesFirst-assist in the operating roomSupport surgical teams with room setup and turnoverComplete post-operative orders and brief op notesConduct daily inpatient rounds: assess progress, review labs, coordinate care with PT/OT, and complete daily notes/ordersApply and manage casts, splints, and bracesProvide patient and family educationCollaborate with discharge planners for rehab/home care coordinationComplete discharge summaries and transfer documentationB. Outpatient Clinic DutiesEvaluate and manage new and existing patients with orthopedic/spine conditionsFormulate and execute treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physicianConduct pre-op assessments and education; complete H&Ps and documentationManage post-op visits including imaging review and wound checksRespond to patient inquiries and coordinate communication with other providersAuthorize medication refills and therapy referralsServe as a liaison between the physician and office staffMaintain CME credits, licensure, and certificationsC.
