Hourly Rate:$39.49 Instructional/$25.00 Non-instructionalPerformance Pay:Available annuallyClass/Calendar:Certified Hourly, 180 workdaysBenefits:noneJob Summary:The Adult Education Instructor is responsible for designing and delivering engaging, effective educational programs tailored to adult learners. They develop lesson plans, assess student needs and provide instruction in areas such as literacy, GED preparation, career skills, or specialized subjects.Candidates must complete an on-line application which requires appropriate Arizona certification, valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card, evidence of highly qualified status, three letters of recommendation, and transcript of credits.Key Responsibilities:Demonstrate knowledge of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materialsDesign and implement lesson plans tailored to adult learners’ needs and goals, along with ensuring course material is aligned with educational standardsDeliver engaging and interactive lessons in areas such as literacy, GED preparations, ESL or vocational skillsMonitor progress and provide constructive feedbackFoster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environmentMaintain an organized and professional classroom settingTrack attendance, maintain accurate student records and document progressStay updated on best practices and advancements in adult educationAssists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public SchoolsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related fieldCurrent AZ teaching certificate (Adult Education)Proven experience teaching or training adult learners in educational, corporate or community settingsKnowledge of adult learning and instructional techniques and tools (e.g. blended learning, online platforms)Background in the specific subject area (e.g. GED preps, ESL, vocational training) is preferredSkills & Competencies:Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a GraduateDemonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and communityExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to establish rapport and maintain a positive, respectful learning environmentSkilled in maintaining accurate records and managing multiple tasks, students effectivelyCreative problem-solving abilities to address classroom or individual challengesBasic proficiency in office applications for preparing teaching materials and tracking recordsAbility to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all studentsWork Environment & Physical Requirements:Primarily works in classroom settings, community centers, or training facilitiesMay involve online teaching using virtual platforms and digital toolsMorning and evening availability, along with occasional weekendCollaborate with colleagues, administrators, and community partnersAbility to stand, walk, and move around the classroom for extended periods of timeMay involve lifting and carrying teaching materials up to 25 lbs.
