Line CookThe Line Cook is responsible for cooking, preparing, and garnishing all hot food and cold food items for the restaurant, amenities, room service, banquets, and catering. This associate will assist the Chef and other BOH Supervisors to maintain the Maverick Hotel and Restaurant Standards.This associate shall strive to provide exceptional hospitality to both internal and external guests at all times. This associate will be responsible for exemplifying the Maverick Hotel and Restaurants Culture as well as providing promotional expertise for the location as both a destination and a harmonious work environment.Essential Functions:Assist in the daily production of restaurant(s), room service and outlet menusMaintains and completes daily prep and cleaning lists and tasks as assigned by BOH Supervisors and ChefsEnsures all requisitions are processed properly and placed in designated areasProperly label and date all products to ensure safekeeping and sanitationApply basic knife skills required for preparation of hot and cold foodsProduce recipes efficiently and consistentlyIs a team player who maintains a great attitude and works well with fellow teammatesEnsures portion control for all food items and follows recipe card cost structure, especially high-cost itemsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and perform duties under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely mannerAbility to hear and see signs of potential emergency situationsMeets with leadership to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes and other information pertinent to the job performanceBreakdown work station and complete closing duties as assigned; return all food and cooking items to the proper storage areas; rotate all returned product wrap cover label and date all item being put away; straighten up and organize all storage areas clean up and wipe down food prep areas reach ins/walk ins and shelves; return all unused and clean utensil/equipment to the specified locations; properly cool down hot items; turn off all equipment not needed for the next shift; restock items that were depleted during the shiftMaintains an up to date working knowledge of all, menu items and ingredients, location amenities as well as any special eventsInteracts with location staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments when necessaryAttends assigned mandatory department meetingsMaintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons). Reports all safety incidents to on-duty to Maverick MOD.Acts responsibly with all company property, supplies, food, beverage, and equipmentReports to work on time as designated by posted scheduleMaintains a professional appearance. Follows all Maverick Hotel and Restaurant dress code standards.Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all timesExperience & Education:High school education requiredAt least one year kitchen/prep experience or one year of culinary school requiredCustomer Service experience preferredJob Requirements:Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permitMust be able to speak, write and understand EnglishMust have complete understanding of the fundamentals of the culinary operationMust have any required certification to Handle FoodMust be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and writtenMust be able to work with an around kitchen equipmentMust be able to work with and around a diverse group of food, seasonings, etc.Must possesses excellent communication skillsMust be professional in appearance and demeanourMust be able to work under pressureMust be able to work in a fast-paced environmentMust have excellent listening skillsMust always ensure a teamwork environmentAbility to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidaysMust have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associatesMust have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful mannerMust have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guestsWorking Conditions:While primarily an indoor job, must be able to work at outdoor locations on occasion, walking on uneven surfaces.Must be able to work in either hot or cold conditionsMust be able to stand on feet and walk throughout the dayMust be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50+ lbs. & occasionally lift, carry, push & pull up to 75 lbs.Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, reaching and repetitive hand & arm movements constantly, squeezing and overhead reaching occasionallyMust be able to twist and bend frequently, and squat occasionallyThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
