We are seeking Production Supervisor to support our instruments value stream in our Middlefield, CT location.As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled associates in the manufacturing of ultra-precision components. You will oversee daily production operations to ensure safety, people, quality, delivery and cost objectives are met. This role leads and supports a production team, coordinates workflow, monitors performance, and drives continuous improvement.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, ValueSupervise daily production activities to achieve scheduled output, quality, and efficiency targetsAllocate labor and resources to ensure smooth workflow and minimal downtimeMonitor production metrics (e.g., productivity, scrap, downtime) and take corrective action as neededSupport continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)Lead, coach, and motivate production team members to achieve performance goalsConduct shift startups, daily huddles, and safety/quality briefingsTrain new employees and support cross‑training among team membersProvide performance feedback and participate in evaluations and disciplinary actions as requiredEnforce safety policies and always ensure a safe working environmentEnsure compliance with quality standards, work instructions, and operating proceduresInvestigate and resolve safety incidents, quality issues, and process deviationsSupport audits and regulatory compliance activities (e.g., OSHA, ISO, GMP, as applicable)Escalate issues related to staffing, materials, equipment, or quality in a timely mannerSupport changeovers, line startups, and shutdowns as requiredMaintain accurate production records, shift reports, and KPI trackingCommunicate production status, issues, and improvement opportunities to leadershipParticipate in operational and cross‑functional meetings as requiredRequired Skills And QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredAssociate’s degree or technical certification preferred (Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field)5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment; prior supervisory or team‑lead experience strongly preferredStrong people leadership and communication skillsWorking knowledge of production processes, equipment, and safety standardsAbility to read and interpret production schedules, work instructions, and KPIsProblem‑solving and decision‑making skills in a fast‑paced environmentBasic computer skills (ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office, production reporting tools)Ability to stand and walk for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 70 pounds with or without accommodationAccountability and integrityTeam leadership and collaborationContinuous improvement mindset, working knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six SIGMA principlesAttention to detailAbility to manage competing prioritiesBring your passion and commitment to Zygo (can change to Zygo Navitar), where we are curious, collaborative, persistent, and confident, where safety and quality guide every step of our journey.
