CNE OSP Engineering Technician III

The Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering Technician III provides project design assistance, field staking, and construction supervision of telecommunications outside plant construction projects. This role typically works under minimal supervision and may supervise other OSP Engineering Technicians.As a 100% employee-owned company, we know we can only succeed when our clients succeed. At Communication Network Engineering, our work makes a tangible difference in people’s lives, as we bring them the technology they need to thrive in the modern world.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPrepares construction drawings, including electronically drawn staking sheets (Visio) and maps (AutoCAD/GIS)Works with contractors to determine the needs of the project, including ped staking, fiber placement routes, and bore locationsPrepares construction units and progress reports for both internal and external stakeholdersResearches and acquires private easementsCollects field data utilizing GPS units and other collection toolsWorks with contractors to determine the needs of the project, including ped staking, fiber placement routes, and bore locationsProvides supervision to other OSP Engineering Technicians, as neededPerforms on-site inspection and supervision of the outside plant construction to ensure compliance with the plans and specificationsRecords as-built records for the projectPerforms arial fielding and prepares for analysis, as neededUpdates construction drawings with as-built dataCompletes as-built mapping using ArcGIS or AutoCAD, as neededPerforms other duties as assignedSkills/QualificationsAssociate degree in Telecommunications, Drafting, Construction Management or related field, preferredFive years of experience in the utility construction industryThorough knowledge of aerial design and construction practices and procedures of fiber facilities, preferredExperience with pole loading analysis software such as O-Calc, preferredComprehensive computer skills (Microsoft Office, Visio, and AutoCAD experience preferred)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsThe ability to excel working both independently and as a part of a teamThe ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditionsOvernight and/or extended travel requiredThe ability to work overtime during the construction seasonMust have a valid driver’s license and be insurableThe culture at Communication Network Engineering, Inc. is built on our shared core values – Professional, Relationship-Driven, Adaptable, Accountable, and Tenacious.
