General Manager
Run a location. Own the outcomes. At The Swim Center, we exist for one reason: to eliminate drowning deaths by teaching kids to swim. It's not a tagline. It's the reason we show up every day and it's the reason this role matters. We're looking for a General Manager who doesn't want to be managed. Someone who sees a community, identifies the right partners, builds relationships, and grows enrollment because they genuinely care about getting more kids in the water. This is not a "follow the playbook and report up" role. You'll have real autonomy over how this location feels, how it connects with the community, and how it grows. The curriculum is proven. The mission is clear. Everything else? We want your fingerprints on it.If you want to own a P&L, not just "keep the pool open", keep reading. What Success Looks Like (12–18 Months)Enrollment and revenue are up significantly vs. todayClasses are fully staffed in advance; last-minute scrambles are rareParents consistently praise communication, progress updates, and staffThe McDonough community knows us as the place that keeps kids safe in the waterOwners are out of the day-to-day and meeting you mainly to review goals and strategyWhat You'll OwnOperations & Customer ExperienceOversee daily operations: schedules, staffing, class capacity, and smooth check-in/check-outEnsure a clean, safe, welcoming facility that parents and kids love coming back toHandle escalated parent concerns and turn problems into loyalty momentsSales, Marketing & CommunityOwn lead follow-up: calls, texts, and emails to convert inquiries into ongoing enrollmentsBuild simple, repeatable local marketing: schools, daycares, churches, pediatric offices, and eventsGrow referrals by making it easy and fun for parents to bring friendsTeam LeadershipRecruit, hire, train, and schedule instructors and deck supervisorsRun regular 1:1s and team meetings; set clear expectations and follow throughDevelop a strong culture of safety, fun, professionalism, and continuous improvementSafety & ComplianceEnsure all safety protocols, emergency procedures, and certifications are followed and up to dateConduct regular pool and facility checks and respond quickly to any issuesWho You AreA builder, not a caretakerEnergized by community relationships, not drained by themComfortable making decisions without waiting for permissionPassionate about a mission that actually saves lives3+ years in a management role in a swim school, gym, youth sports, recreation, childcare, or similar local service businessYou've run a team: hiring, scheduling, coaching, and when needed, letting people goComfortable with basic numbers: enrollments, attendance, payroll, and simple reportingYou like being in the building, on the deck, talking to families, not just sitting behind a deskBonus points if:You've worked in a swim school or aquatics environmentYou've used class-based management software (Jackrabbit, iClassPro, Mindbody or similar)You have CPR/First Aid/AED and/or lifeguard/instructor certifications, or are willing to obtain themWhat We OfferCompetitive base salary with performance bonuses and/or profit-sharing tied to location growthReal autonomy to shape the look, feel, and culture of our flagship locationDirect access to the owners as partners, not micromanagersGround-floor opportunity to help shape the systems we'll use as we expand to future locationsA mission worth getting up forHow to Apply:Apply through LinkedIn and email your resume to HR@theswimcenter.com with the subject line:“General Manager – McDonough – [Your Name]”In your message, briefly share:A time you helped a location or program grow (with numbers if you have them). Why running a kids’ swim school as “your” location excites you.If you want to run a location like it’s your own business – and build something that matters for families in McDonough – we’d love to meet you.The Swim Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
