With over 30 years of history, a modern all-Boeing fleet, and nearly 5,000 teammates collaborating across operations, technical, and corporate functions, we’re driven by purpose.If you're ready to grow, innovate, and help us deliver excellence every single day, you belong here.Position Summary: The Principle Structures Engineer reports to the Sr. Manager Structures Engineering and is responsible for the engineering data, instructions, documents, an technical support that economically ensures the safety, airworthiness, and reliability of Atlas Air aircraft within the following ATA chapter subjects: 25, 27 (structural aspects), 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 71 and 78 (structural aspects).Major Job AccountabilitiesProvide budgetary data on projects and issues as directedPrioritize Structures Engineering actionsReport on the status of projects and issues as directedIssue instructions and documents to economically support operations and return aircraft to service in a safe, airworthy, and timely manner.Provide assistance to develop Engineering Handbook and Company Repairs Manual to standardize legacy processesSupervise the activities of the Structures Engineers providing technical support for the existing fleet (747/767) and new fleet (737/777)Assist management of the Liaison Engineering Support Team to supplement existing Structures Engineering AOG/24/7 technical support team.Issue instructions and documents to economically support operations and return aircraft to service in a safe, airworthy, and timely manner.Assist management of the Project Structures Team.Monitors development of a Mobile-RAM reporting damage software to improve AOG flow time / process. Manage the FAR/AD/NPRM compliance of the existing fleet (747/767) and new fleet (737/777).Manage the review, analysis, and responses of Fleet team Idea Exchange (FIX) for existing fleet (747/767) and new fleet (737/777).Manage the development of process to effectively manage all Heavy Maintenance & Conversion MROs – Major/Minor Repair Documentation.Chair/create and manage Working Groups.Develop plans, instructions, and documents to comply with FARs, Ads, and NPRMs and to resolve non-mandatory in-service issues.Participate in industry working groups, industry steering committees, industry meetings, and conferencesSupport integration of new and previously operated aircraftLiaise with manufacturers; maintenance representatives, repair, and overhaul facilities; outside engineering departments; regulatory personnel; and other outside agenciesReview work of consultant, contract, and MRO Structures EngineersEvaluate FARs, Notices of Proposed Rulemaking, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and other notifications of in-service issuesDevelop and/or obtain approved data, acceptable data, and Alternate Methods of Compliance for repairs, alterations, and modificationsEvaluate reported Level 2 and Level 3 corrosion findings, develop corrective action plans, and submits plans in accordance with regulatory requirementsEvaluate discrepancies that require mandatory reporting to the FAA and submit these reports to the FAA in accordance with regulatory requirementsDevelop product improvement modifications as dictated by Reliability indicatorsWork with original equipment manufacturers on emerging issues to ensure safety and airworthiness, but also minimize the economic impactOrganize, develop, and provide all necessary Structures Engineering documentation required to complete aircraft structures modifications and repairs within the allocated time schedule and budget allowanceProvide technical support to Tech Ops, Ground Ops, Flight Ops, and other personnelCoordinate with other Engineering staff to provide 24/7 technical supportManage and implement the Repair Assessment ProgramDevelop, manage, and implement programs to comply with new FARs on Repairs, Alterations, and Modifications and other Aging Aircraft Programs such as Widespread Fatigue Damage (WFD)Review maintenance programs, and initiate maintenance program changes and changes to maintenance documentsManages cross-functional and cross departmental projects within technical subject scopeQualificationsB.S.
