Warren Whitney is a management consulting firm based in Richmond, Virginia, with more than 36 years of experience helping privately held businesses and nonprofit organizations thrive. We provide fractional leadership, advisory services, and consulting engagements across three key areas: Finance & Accounting, Human Resources, and Strategy. Our Finance & Accounting professionals serve clients both through interim or fractional CFO and Controller roles and through a variety of projects. Our other professionals serve in roles such as HR Director, and by leading engagements that include strategic planning, executive searches, technology strategy and operational reviews.

FRACTIONAL CONTROLLER OVERVIEW
Position Summary
As a Fractional Controller, you will serve clients in fractional, interim, and project-based roles, providing leadership in day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management. This is a full-time role.
You'll work closely with client leadership to:
Improve financial systems and reporting
Oversee monthly close processes and internal controls
Mentor accounting staff
Support strategic planning and decision-making with accurate financial data
Prepare for audits and assist with external reporting
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices
Qualifications
We are seeking professionals who are passionate about helping clients succeed. Ideal candidates will bring:
Accounting education, experience, and credentials
A mixture of public accounting experience as well as industry or nonprofit experience
Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with multiple accounting systems
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
A track record of adaptability and problem-solving across different industries or company sizes
CPA preferred but not required
Experience with nonprofit organizations or small/mid-sized businesses is a plus
