Job Title: Service ManagerJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead and support our industrial field service operations for highly engineered thermal processing equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical troubleshooting, customer engagement, and team development. The position is critical and long-standing, with a history of stability and leadership within the organization. The ideal candidate should possess a strong engineering or technicalexperienceextensive exposure to industrial/thermal equipment, and proven experience in diagnosing, prioritizing, and resolving complex service issues directly with customers.ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise a small team of on-site service technicians and coordinate additional resources from manufacturing and engineering as needed.Act as the primary escalation point for customer service and equipment issues.Triage multiple service requests simultaneously, prioritizing based on urgency, impact, and customer needs.Develop, implement, and improve service programs, preventive maintenance plans, and service procedures.Analyze service trends, failures, and root causes to improve reliability and customer satisfaction.Provide hands-on technical support for industrial thermal equipment in the field and remotely.Read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and P&IDs.Diagnose equipment and process issues involving electrical systems, automation, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and temperature control systems.Understand and interpret PLC logic for troubleshooting purposes.Support field installations, commissioning, warranty issues, and upgrades.Coordinate spare parts management, service logistics, and vendor/service provider relationships.Work directly with customers onsite and remotely to resolve issues and build long-term relationships.Support service-related quoting, configurations, and upgrade opportunities.Act as a technical advisor to sales by ensuring accuracy in configurations and service recommendations.Manage service department objectives, budget considerations, and performance metrics.Coach, mentor, and develop service technicians and field engineers.Lead by example in a hands-on managerial role.Help select, train, schedule, and support service personnel.Collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, especially during the initial transition period.Essential Skills5+ years of experience in industrial field service, service engineering, or technical operations of industrial equipment.Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring or managing technicians or engineers.Strong electrical knowledge, including high/low voltage systems, VFDs, control panels, and temperature controllers.Experience with industrial automation in a manufacturing or processing environment.Hands-on experience troubleshooting industrial equipment in customer environments.Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation.Comfortable working directly with customers to resolve complex issues.Strong communication skills and confidence leading teams and customer discussions.Additional Skills & QualificationsExposure to thermal processing equipment such as furnaces, kilns, and ovens.Familiarity with PLC platforms for diagnostics and interpretation.Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD systems for reading designs.Knowledge of ISO 9000 / ISO 9001 environments.Understanding of welding processes.Experience supporting aerospace, energy, medical, or industrial manufacturing customers.Work EnvironmentThe role requires less than 20% travel, both domestic and international, with occasional extended onsite visits depending on project needs.
