Director of Development CASA
General Description:The Director of Development is responsible for partnering with the Executive Director and the Development Committee of the Board of Directors to plan, lead, and implement all aspects of fund development for East Central Indiana CASA. This position will successfully develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan, including individual gifts, direct mail solicitations, special events, corporate sponsorships, and stewardship of all donations. This position will promote a culture of philanthropy among staff, board, and volunteers. A successful candidate will prioritize and practice the highest standards of professional ethics and donor administration.Qualifications:The Development Director should possess the following education, skills, and experience:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in donor development, nonprofit management, marketing, public relations, or a related field.Two years of professional development and fundraising experience are preferred, with demonstrated success in achieving fundraising goals.Advanced computer skills and proficiency in donor management software.Experience in marketing communications and designing email graphics.Ability to work with minimal supervision - self-motivated and confident.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to work well with people from all backgrounds with varying degrees of experience.Ability to inspire, motivate, challenge, and work with volunteers.Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to create personal relationships and to communicate effectively, delivering exceptional customer service to a diverse variety of stakeholders (i.e., donors, sponsors, and volunteers), both verbally and in writing.Commitment to ECI CASA's goals and mission.Accountability:The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director, who is responsible for ongoing direction and evaluation of performance.Responsibilities:Planning§ Develop and implement a written annual development plan with strategies for individual, foundation, and corporate donors and prospects, in collaboration with the Development Committee and Executive Director.§ Provide quarterly reports to the Executive Director, which measure progress towards achieving the plan.§ Broaden East Central Indiana CASA's fundraising by developing approaches such as a monthly giving campaign, focused campaigns for various stakeholders, a planned giving campaign, and solicitation of bequests.§ Collaborate with community members to maximize the engagement of individuals and organizations and build the agency's supporter base.§ Create and lead a Fundraising Committee.Fundraising§ Meet regularly with donors and prospects to cultivate, solicit, retain, and steward individual donors, corporate donors, and foundations to secure adequate income and strong personal commitments that will provide a diverse and sustainable funding base for ECI CASA.§ Maintain a list of top prospects to work with the Executive Director in assigning staff and board to relationship-building steps.§ Develop mini-fundraising events and campaigns as needed for special projects.§ Coordinates donor communications, recognition, and events.§ Keep up to date on current fundraising programs, practices, and procedures used in the nonprofit sector.§ Create and implement individual giving programs to include direct mail, major gifts, monthly giving, planned giving, volunteer giving, and gift society.§ Identify and pursue new sources of corporate and foundation funding.§ Create and update collateral materials to support gift cultivation, in collaboration with PR/Marketing Consultant and Executive Director.§ Follow best practices to ensure proper recordkeeping for contributors and ensure that donations are appropriately recognized.§ Responsible for mid-year and end-of-year fundraising letters.§ Assist the agency with maintaining the Constant Contact email platform and database.§ Maintain accurate donor database currently on the Givebutter platform.Events§ Provide staff support to fundraising event committees. Current events include the Champions for Children Awards Dinner and the Silent Auction. Serve as staff liaison to event committees and manage/oversee fundraising events, as needed. Work with staff and event volunteers to coordinate all aspects of a successful event.§ Develop and solicit sponsors and partners for new future events.§ Develop a plan to cultivate ECI CASA event attendees into ongoing donors.Public Relations and Donor Communication§ Maintain accurate agency donor database.§ Collaborate with PR/Marketing consultants regarding all donor-related social media posts.§ Collaborate with PR/Marketing consultant and Executive Director on the electronic newsletters.§ Collaborate with Community Outreach Coordinator and Executive Director to create and publish both print and electronic annual reports.§ Collaborate with PR/Marketing consultant and Executive Director to ensure that the website is kept up to date with marketing campaigns and fundraising events.* Other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director or the Board Development Committee.
