Data Center Technician
Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Center Technician with a strong focus on structured cabling and cable pulling within mission-critical environments. This role is responsible for installing, routing, dressing, labeling, and testing copper and fiber optic cabling in a data center environment while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards.Key Responsibilities Pull, route, and secure copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and fiber optic cables (single-mode and multi-mode) in overhead trays, under raised floors, and through conduitsInstall and terminate structured cabling systems, including patch panels, keystone jacks, and fiber enclosuresPerform cable dressing, bundling, and Velcro management according to data center standardsLabel cables according to TIA/EIA and company labeling standardsTest and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling using certification testers and OTDR equipmentInstall cable tray systems, ladder racks, J-hooks, and support structuresMaintain accurate documentation, cable maps, and as-built drawingsWork within active data center environments without disrupting live equipmentFollow all safety procedures including proper lifting techniques and PPE requirementsCoordinate with network engineers, facilities teams, and project managersRequired Qualifications 1–3+ years of experience in structured cabling or data center environmentsExperience pulling and dressing large cable bundles in commercial or data center settingsKnowledge of copper and fiber standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI preferred)Ability to read blueprints, rack elevations, and cable schedulesComfortable working at heights (ladders/lifts) and in confined spacesAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasksStrong attention to detail and organizationPowered by JazzHR
