Position Overview: Profession: PhysicianSpecialty: OB/GYNStart Date: ASAPContract Length: OngoingShift Type: 24-hour call (can be split into 12 hours on-site and 12 hours from a hotel depending on census) Schedule Details: Shifts: 24-hour call12 hours on-site, 12 hours off-site from a nearby hotel, depending on censusSleep room available on-site for convenienceCall Requirements: 1:5 call ratio, with call schedule available 1-2 months in advanceDates of Coverage:October 6 & 7Additional dates in November and beyondTrauma Level: Level 3 Practice Setting: Setting: OB & GYN in a hospitalAverage of 2-5 nursery admissions per day40% low-risk pregnancies, 60% high-risk pregnanciesPercentage of C-sections depends on the physicianSupport Staff:Labor & Delivery teamPostpartum, OR, ER staff1-2 Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs)Onsite Facilities: Lab & Ultrasound availableEMR System: CERNER Responsibilities: Clinical Expertise:Provide 24-hour OB/GYN care in a hospital settingHandle a mix of low and high-risk pregnanciesPerform C-sections as neededCollaborate with support staff to ensure quality care in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Emergency servicesAssist with on-call duties for scheduled dates and potentially more as neededCall Coverage:Flexible call schedule, working 24-hour shifts, split between on-site and off-site availability depending on patient censusAbility to cover additional shifts as the need arises due to physician shortages Requirements: Licensure: Active and unrestricted Iowa medical license requiredCertification: Board-Certified/Board-Eligible in OB/GYNAdditional Certifications: NRP requiredExperience: Prior experience with both low and high-risk pregnancies preferred Additional Details: Reason for Coverage: The facility lost a physician, and a new one wont start until summer 2025.
