Safety Manager
H.T. Lyons, an HVAC mechanical contractor, is looking for a Safety Manager to join our team. Responsible for safety and risk management including planning, directing, and coordinating risk and safety programs for the New York State (NYS) and New York City (NYC) locations to reduce operational and contractual risk. You will ensure each location and their respective employees comply with local, state, and federal occupational health and safety laws and regulations. You will support H.T. Lyons with creating, establishing, distributing, and maintaining standard safe work practices. You will support claims management for H.T. Lyons NYS and NYC locations.
Safety Management
Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
Develop, implement, and manage project-specific safety plans for the H.T. Lyons NYS and NYC locations.
Work with Company management, office, and field supervisory personnel at the H.T. Lyons NYS and NYC locations to prepare, distribute, implement, and enforce policies to establish a positive culture regarding health and safety.
Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the applicable laws and regulations.
Evaluate office, fabrication shop, and customer sites to ensure adherence to established safe work practices.
Document, report, and track findings both positive and needing improvement.
Conduct and/or coordinate training and presentations for health and safety matters and incident prevention.
Inspect and monitor compliance with policies, regulations, and laws by performing project site, employee, and operational observations.
Investigate accidents or incidents and file and manage worker’s compensation claims.
Ensure root cause findings are relayed to the field personnel via lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, and/or prevention measures.
Oversee compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and all related local, state, and federal regulations for the H.T. Lyons NYS and NYC locations.
Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
Inform management of new or changing safety and health related regulations in NY state and NY City.
Assist local operations teams with hiring and managing third party safety consultants (dedicated to project sites) when assigned.
Work with and in conjunction with local safety personnel in the H.T. Lyons NYC location to ensure compliance with all OSHA and related regulations.
Liaison between regulatory agencies and site teams.
Claims Management
Identify, analyze, and classify operational and insurable risks for financial impact to H.T. Lyons, including expected frequency, trends, and severity.
Assist management at H.T. Lyons NYS and NYC locations regarding insurance and risk.
Responsible for implementation and support of property and casualty insurance programs including property and casualty insurance policy renewals and associated tasks.
Develop and interpret analytical tools used to evaluate appropriate retention and policy limits.
Oversee the loss control and loss mitigation, including routine adjudication of claims, and all litigation and administrative proceedings.
Administration of all insurance policies including workers compensation, general liability, and auto programs, including claims and compliance reporting for the H.T. Lyons NYS and NYC locations
Work with employees and customers to build positive relationships.
Initiate and maintain insurance industry relationships.
Responsible for management of insured claims, selection and management of third-party administrators, and claims analysis.

Requirements
5 years of experience in safety management or relevant field
5 years of experience in claims management (multiple lines of business)
5 years of experience working as a Safety Manager in the Construction Industry is preferred
Thorough understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
Excellent organizational and motivational skills
Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
Valid qualifications/certifications in occupational health and safety
Must be willing to travel to all H.T. Lyons office and project locations in New York state and New York City
Must be willing to respond to incidents occurring outside of normal business hours
Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license
