Source One is a consulting services company and we’re currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant with our direct client, an on demand autonomous ride-hauling company in Fremont, CANo Third-Party, No Corp to Corp, No Sponsorship Now, Future or Temporary AuthorizationTitle: SP - Packaging Engineer Location: Fremont, CAOnsite (Mon-Fri, 30 + hours)Contract Duration: 6 months, with likely extension Pay Rate: $79.50 per hour (w2)Packaging EngineerWe are partnering with an on‑demand autonomous ride‑hailing company to hire a Packaging Engineer responsible for the design, testing, implementation, and continuous improvement of packaging solutions across manufacturing, logistics, and service operations. This role develops packaging and material‑flow systems that enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and logistics performance throughout internal operations and the supplier network.The ideal candidate is collaborative, process‑driven, and experienced in packaging design, supply chain operations, and manufacturing support within fast‑paced production environments.Role OverviewThe Packaging Engineer supports the full lifecycle of packaging development—from concept and design through validation, implementation, and continuous improvement. This includes supplier packaging, internal material handling, and service‑related packaging initiatives. The role requires close coordination with engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and supplier teams to ensure packaging solutions meet operational, quality, and cost requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with the Staff Packaging Engineer to design, standardize, and implement packaging solutions for manufacturing operations.Develop and enhance packaging systems for supplier shipments, internal material handling, and service operations.Support vendor selection, supplier coordination, and packaging validation activities.Collaborate with vehicle engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing, and logistics teams to ensure packaging meets product and operational requirements.Create and maintain procedures related to packaging validation, continuous improvement, and supplier feedback.Own service packaging initiatives, including optimization, development, and implementation.Work with packaging engineering and logistics teams to deploy material‑handling and conveyance solutions that support manufacturing workflows.Partner with suppliers to improve packaging quality, transportation efficiency, inventory management, and overall logistics performance.Monitor packaging‑related KPIs and support initiatives that improve packaging effectiveness, operational efficiency, and cost performance.Design, test, and refine packaging used to transport components from suppliers to distribution centers and within internal facilities.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.Four to six years of experience in supply chain operations, logistics, or manufacturing.Experience in the automotive industry.Strong knowledge of lean principles, distribution or fulfillment processes, and logistics business systems.Proficiency with CAD and technical drawings.Familiarity with automation development, robotics, and warehouse automation.
