This role combines actuarial expertise, quantitative modeling, software development, and insurance analytics to support the modernization and long-term ownership of MassMutual's dividend modeling platform for participating whole life products.As a key member of a highly specialized team, you will help transform legacy actuarial models into modern Python-based solutions while contributing to dividend analytics, assumption development, regulatory testing, model governance, and financial analysis that directly impacts participating policyholders.Key ResponsibilitiesDividend Modeling Platform OwnershipLead the conversion, modernization, and long-term maintenance of the Python-based dividend modeling platform.Support the modeling framework used for participating whole life insurance products.Ensure models remain accurate, scalable, maintainable, and production-ready.Drive continuous improvements to platform architecture and functionality.Serve as a key owner of actuarial modeling infrastructure.Actuarial Model Development & EnhancementDesign, develop, enhance, and maintain actuarial models.Implement model enhancements based on business and actuarial requirements.Translate complex business needs into robust analytical solutions.Improve model efficiency, transparency, and usability.Support model performance monitoring and optimization.Python Development & AutomationDevelop actuarial applications and modeling solutions using Python.Modernize legacy actuarial processes and systems.Create reusable and maintainable code frameworks.Support automation of actuarial and analytical workflows.Implement software engineering best practices for actuarial modeling.Model Validation & TestingPartner with actuarial subject matter experts to validate models.Develop and execute testing strategies supporting:Model AccuracyProduction ReadinessCalculation IntegrityBusiness Rule ValidationInvestigate and resolve modeling discrepancies.Support independent model review activities.Dividend Analytics & Financial AnalysisSupport annual dividend determination and analysis processes.Contribute to the evaluation of dividend-related financial results.Perform analytical assessments supporting participating business management.Analyze dividend liabilities and policyholder impacts.Assist in evaluating alternative dividend scenarios and recommendations.Assumption DevelopmentSupport development and maintenance of actuarial assumptions.Analyze experience studies and emerging trends.Evaluate model assumptions impacting dividend calculations.Contribute to financial projections and scenario analysis.Support ongoing actuarial research activities.Regulatory Testing & ComplianceAssist with regulatory and actuarial testing
