Environmental Health Safety Specialist

THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELLWe are currently seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to support the daily activities of our nationwide safety program. This position will help manage incident prevention and loss-control systems and programs across the organization, administer various safety-related platforms and tools, collaborate with a network of division Safety Advocates, and provide safety oversight within an assigned area.In partnership with the Safety Manager and with the support of the People & Culture department, this individual will work closely with division personnel to ensure the successful implementation of safety initiatives throughout the organization.WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)Identify conditions that may result in incidents or financial losses and evaluate the potential severity of injuries resulting from workplace incidents.Facilitate safety and health training, incident prevention programs, and investigation training for managers and employees.Support the administration of Fleet Telematics, Defensive Driver, and Safety Training platforms.Audit facilities and project sites within an assigned area to ensure safe and healthy working conditions.Participate in incident reviews and provide recommendations for corrective actions.Coordinate or conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective actions, and complete follow-up assessments.Work closely with the Safety Manager, with input from the People & Culture department, to analyze incident reports and implement changes that create a safer work environment.Assist with the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.Assist with integrating new acquisitions into Sciens’ safety program and culture.Support divisions in managing third-party vendor qualification programs.WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOUBachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, plus 1 year of experience; OR a high school diploma plus 5 years of experience in environmental health and safety within a construction or service-related environment.Working knowledge of OSHA regulatory requirements; experience with USACE and EM385 is a plus.Demonstrated success in promoting a positive safety culture in both field and office environments.Knowledge of fundamental safety principles, including ergonomics, hazardous materials, safe work practices, and emergency preparedness.Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations related to environmental health, workplace safety, and risk management.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and similar programs.This position is remote; however, travel is required to support division offices nationwide.WHAT WE’RE BRINGING TO THE TABLECompetitive salary based on qualificationsPaid time off and company holidays401(k) with company matchingShort-term and long-term disability coverageMedical, dental, and vision plan optionsLife insuranceProfessional career development opportunitiesTuition reimbursement
