Project Manager
Floor Systems is seeking an experienced and motivated Floor Covering Sales Project Manager to manage residential and light commercial flooring projects from site visit through completion.This role is not a cashier or showroom-only sales position. It is a hybrid office-and-field position focused on jobsite evaluation, accurate measurement, pricing for profitability, installation coordination, and issue resolution. Compensation is commission-based and tied directly to job profitability. We offer a strong earning potential without a cap or tiers for candidates who plan well, price accurately, manage projects effectively and build a strong customer base.Our in-store Customer Sales Representatives (CSRs) work with customers on product selection based on style, performance, and budget. The Project Manager supports this process when needed—particularly for larger projects or contractor-referred jobs—and is responsible for defining scope, quantities, pricing, and execution.Project Managers are also expected to develop and maintain relationships with builders, contractors, and designers to generate ongoing, sustainable business.Key ResponsibilitiesVisit residential and commercial jobsites to evaluate conditions, identify risks, and take accurate measurementsAssess subfloor conditions, prep requirements, and installation considerations prior to pricingCommunicate with homeowners, builders, contractors, and designers to fully understand project scopeCollaborate with CSRs to finalize proposals using PM-generated quantities and pricingAssist in the recommendation of flooring selections that meet clients aesthetic and functional needsIndependently price projects and adjust retail pricing to protect margin and profitabilityCoordinate installations using subcontracted flooring installersWork with the installation coordinator to schedule projects and manage timelinesServe as the primary point of contact for job-related questions, changes, or issuesResolve problems proactively, understanding that job outcomes affect profitability and commissionManage multiple projects at various stages simultaneouslySpend time in store collaborating with the team to support project workflow and through sharing of job-specific insightsBuild and maintain relationships with industry professionals for repeat and referral businessCompensation & What We ProvideCommission based on job profitability with no capWeekly draw against commissionShared company vehicles for jobsite visitsOffice space in a large, professional flooring showroomFlooring-specific business software for estimating, job costing, inventory, and reportingOnsite measuring and desktop takeoff estimating program availableEstablished network of professional installation subcontractorsPurchasing, installation coordination, and inside sales supportStable company with nearly 40 years in business and a strong reputation in MaineQualificationsFlooring, construction, estimating, or project management experience preferredStrong understanding of flooring installation methods and existing condition challengesComfortable working in a commission-based role tied to performanceOrganized, detail-oriented, and accountableStrong communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyValid driver’s licenseWho Succeeds in This RoleExperienced flooring installers, estimators, designers or project managersSales professionals who want control over pricing and outcomesIndividuals who enjoy problem-solving and owning resultsPeople looking for long-term stability and growth with a well-established companyWhy Floor SystemsWe are growing.
