Positions such as Construction Manager and Survey Crew Chief may be in your future.Essential FunctionsOversees inspection and testing activities for one or more projectsProvides oversight of inspection staff and assists them in developing their skillsInputs data into pre-written computer programsOperates computer and runs reports or calculationsInterprets construction plans and specificationsObserves construction operations on various sites using advanced knowledge to assess conformance to plans and specificationsPerforms construction materials testing and develops budget estimates and proposalsProvides clear written documentation of daily activities, site conditions, etc.Communicates effectively with other staff, contractor personnel, and client representativesDemonstrates ability to work independently, managing staff on projects on a regular basisDemonstrates initiative in identifying potential issues, takes steps to determine solutions, and implements selected steps Participates in technical training sessions and achieves various certifications associated with construction inspection, as well as renewing held certificationsIdentifies training and certifications that may be of value to members of the inspection teamDocuments their daily work and reimbursable expenses in company accounting systemSeeks and accepts increasing levels of responsibilityWorks with members of the management team to address issues and tackle obstaclesTrains other Construction Technicians and leads continuous improvement programs throughout the departmentProvides regular consultation to other members of the departmentMaintains client relationships and establishes new ones through business development activitiesEngages clients and potential clients to identify future opportunities for workThis position may have direct reportsQualificationsExperience8+ years’ experience with construction inspection or construction tradesExperience with a public agency, one of our clients or another consulting firm a plusSkills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and OutlookDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levelsDelivers exceptional customer serviceProficient in time management and a self-starterHas a reliable personal vehicle that is available for daily use to travel to job sitesPhysical working requirements:Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.Able to walk up/down stairsAbility to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekendsAbility to travel including at nightSubject to outside environmental conditions EducationHigh School diploma or GED required KDOT Inspection certification requiredAdditional experience in engineering, drafting, survey, and/or construction management is a plus
