Job Overview
Siemens is a global technology company focused on sustainable infrastructure and grid‑scale photovoltaic solutions. We seek a Proposal Engineer to support the PV Inverter Commercial and Proposals team.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver high‑quality proposals for central and string inverter, community solar, and repower projects.
Serve as the commercial backbone for all proposals in our central inverter and string inverter portfolios.
Own and continuously improve proposal templates, including scope language, technical exhibits, and commercial terms.
Standardize proposal processes across product lines to create scalable, repeatable solutions.
Prepare and review bills of material, technical specifications, and documentation to support accurate pricing, scope definition, and risk evaluation.
Manage opportunity and proposal data to provide real‑time visibility into deal status, pricing, margins, schedules, and risk factors.
Partner with sales and business development to support opportunity qualification, proposal strategy, and commercial alignment.
Support procurement planning and supply‑chain coordination, including purchase requisitions aligned to project timelines and probability.
Lead structured risk reviews, document risks and mitigation plans, and ensure proposals are released with clear technical and commercial alignment.
Build and maintain project schedules, establish proposal standards, and drive process improvements that enhance accuracy, reduce cycle time, and improve margins.
Act as a key cross‑functional partner across sales, engineering, and operations, ensuring smooth handoffs, strong commercial positioning, and continuous improvement of proposal quality.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
3+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
Utility‑scale PV, energy storage, or power systems proposal engineering.
Commercial proposal development and management.
Sales engineering or offers engineering for complex technical projects.
EPC or equipment supplier commercial operations.
Project controls, project management, or program management.
Technical understanding of utility‑scale PV systems, inverter technology, grid integration requirements, and electrical systems architecture.
Ability to interpret electrical one‑line diagrams, site layout diagrams, and relevant technical documentation.
Proficiency with enterprise systems including Salesforce, ERP systems (SAP), and project management/scheduling tools.
Strong financial and commercial acumen, including understanding of margins, EBIT, cost of goods sold, and commercial risk assessment.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or advanced business degree.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Detail‑oriented and process‑mindful, comfortable building templates and standardizing workflows.
Collaborative mindset and drive to partner across functions.
Bias toward action and continuous improvement.
Experience with AutoCAD, Visio, or technical drawing/design tools.
Familiarity with utility regulatory standards (UL, IEEE, ANSI) and grid interconnection processes.
Experience in renewable energy, solar, or energy storage industries.
Project management certification (PMP, CAPM) or Agile training.
Exposure to risk management frameworks and risk quantification.
CRM or Salesforce administration experience.
Business development or sales operations background.
Experience with supply chain, procurement, or manufacturing operations.
Benefits
Siemens offers comprehensive health and wellness benefits. Pay range: $91,463 – $156,794 annually, with a target incentive of 10 % of base salary. Actual wage may vary by budget and candidate experience.
