DescriptionThe Department of Facilities and Construction Management at Jackson State University is seeking a skilled Painter IV to join their team. Their responsibilities will include surface preparation, paint application, color matching and using different techniques and tools, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.Examples of DutiesApply paint to surfaces including canvas, walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.Serape, sandpaper, prime or seal surfaces prior to painting.Erect scaffolding, movable, and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas; move furniture and equipment as needed.Utilize spray guns for large jobs.Work on ladders to reach high ceilings or walls.Perform related duties as required.Typical QualificationsUnder direct supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for mixing, matching, and applying paint to various surfaces, completing touch-ups, and coordinating large palming projects.Minimum High School Diploma or GED.Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver's License.Over 10 years of progressive experience as a painter.Thorough knowledge of tools, application methods, and standard trade safety practices.Complete knowledge of the proper handling, mixing, and disposal of toxic and potentially hazardous materials.Must have the physical ability to climb ladders, scaffolding and work in sometimes physically strenuous places and positions.
