In this key leadership and training role, you will lead, train, and develop our safety culture across all operations for over 150 employees on multiple job sites statewide in close collaboration with our operational leadership and our national safety program. You will be responsible for upholding the highest standards of safety, teamwork, and professionalism directly and indirectly by developing and implementing safety policies, providing training and development to employees at all levels, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.This Safety Manager role calls for a proactive leader with significant safety management experience in multi-unit residential construction or plumbing who thrives in a dynamic field environment. The ideal candidate excels at building teams, driving results through a hands-on approach, and demonstrating exceptional communication, training, and project management skills while fostering a culture of safety excellence.This role is intended to be a hybrid full-time exempt position, based at our O'ahu headquarters, with regular travel, including inter-island and mainland, and reports to the Vice President, Operations.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead, develop, and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures across all Hawaii operationsProvide engaging, effective safety training and coaching for field employees, supervisors, and management teamsConduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across all job sites on multiple islandsInvestigate incidents and near-misses, prepare detailed reports, and lead corrective and preventive actionsEnsure compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations while maintaining accurate documentationPartner closely with the Company Safety Manager to align Hawaii initiatives with company-wide safety goals and programsAnalyze safety data and trends to drive continuous improvement and strengthen safety performanceDevelop and deliver proposals for process and equipment enhancements that improve safety, efficiency, profitability, and customer serviceImplement and utilize AI-driven tools and other technologies to enhance safety and operational outcomesCollaborate with operations, HR, and other support teams to achieve organizational goalsSupport long-term planning and development strategies for the teamManage assigned budgets, including travel and overhead expensesSolicit and evaluate proposals from external vendors and manage associated costsServe as a trusted resource and advocate for all employees on health and safety matters(This job posting is not intended as a complete list of activities, duties, or responsibilities for this position.)Key Requirements5+ years of construction safety experience in Hawaii, including multi-site, and across multiple trades, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, fire and life safety systems, carpentry, drywall, painting, tile work, excavation and trenching, asphalt and concrete, hoisting and rigging, and other related tradesCurrent professional certifications such as CHST, CSPCurrent OSHA 500In-depth knowledge of OSHA and Hawaii-specific safety regulationsCurrent knowledge of common compliance, infrastructure, and safety challenges statewide and locallyProven ability to develop and deliver safety training programsExcellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skillsExcellent organizational and multi-tasking skillsA positive "no job is too big or too small" attitudeProficiency in English, written and spokenMarked proficiency in computer skills including with email, internet, Word, and ExcelAbility to travel regularly in Hawaii including between islandsMust be able to occasionally lift and carry 25–50 lbs., regularly walk, and regularly climb stairs and laddersMust be willing to travel up to 20% of the timePreferred CandidatesEducation: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.Prior local experience as an official safety inspector; prior experience as a tradesperson; proficiency in other languages common in Hawaii; and/or related military experience.Salary Range$125,000 to $150,000 annualized salary based upon experience and qualifications, plus bonus opportunity ranging from 10% to 20% of base salary.Employment AuthorizationApplicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must be able to confirm their employment eligibility via E-Verify at the time of hire.
