And our Corporate Real Estate team is on the front lines of procuring, designing and developing spaces at all our hubs, stations and city locations across the world. From airport affairs and business services to planning and development, this team is responsible for all our leases and major construction and renovation projects, system wide. Job overview and responsibilitiesLeads the planning, programming, coordination, and development of United and Airport master plans. Recommends short-, medium-, and long-term plans to implement company’s strategic objectives. Manages a team of Managers and Airport Planners responsible for gate and terminal layouts, CRE Safety, and developing ramp layout standards. Supports project managers, internal stakeholders, and external stakeholders in general planning tasks. This position is Chicago-based hybrid and will require some regular travel throughout the year.
Manages the development of, and assists airports with their development of, airport master plans, terminal master plans, United support and operational space master plans, feasibility studies, and other aviation planning services
Manages a team supporting stakeholders in general planning tasks by performing research, gathering and analyzing data, and conducting field surveys to make strategic recommendations to meet short-, medium-, and long-term company objectives
Manages teams performing terminal planning analyses in conjunction with internal/external stakeholders to include identifying facility requirements, level of service analysis, and working with designers in developing conceptual design for terminal systems
Studies and recommends systems integration for terminal processor elements including; lobby, security, passenger holdroom, concessions, passenger boarding bridges, aircraft parking layouts, and other related terminal systems
Manages teams responsible for the development and maintenance of the central repository of systemwide gate plans and facilitation of the Gate Layout Council
Coordinates directly with Network Planning to review updated schedules for new aircraft/fleet roll outs and gate/facility requirement changes
Validates recommendations for aircraft and gate parking to include aircraft movement areas and gates, remote parking, and hangar layout, and parking through interpretation and analysis of confidential and strategic network planning data
Prepares written reports and deliverables for complex strategic planning studies and terminal/gate planning studies, which includes presenting technical information to senior leadership and internal/external stakeholders
Manages the development of Ramp Striping Improvement Program (RSIP) budgets and forecasts in coordination with the Director of Planning
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
5 years direct experience in airport planning, airline operations, airline management, airport management, aviation-focused architecture, or aviation-focused civil engineering
Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent problem solving skills
Ability to distill complex technical analyses in a clear, concise, audience-appropriate manner
Ability to work collaboratively with internal/external stakeholders
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

AAAE Certified Member
Airline/Airport SMS Training
10 years direct experience in airport planning, airline operations, airline management, airport management, aviation-focused architecture, or aviation-focused civil engineering
AutoCAD
AviPLAN
Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars and/or ICAO airport design standards
Knowledge of ACRP & IATA standards for level of service
Knowledge of United Airlines Gate Layout Standards
Knowledge of airline operating procedures
The base pay range for this role is $127,870.00 to $166,492.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
