Pediatric Hospitalist (MD/DO)Position SummaryThe Pediatric Hospitalist provides comprehensive inpatient medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. This role focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of acute pediatric illnesses, coordination of multidisciplinary inpatient care, and facilitation of safe transitions from hospital to home using evidence-based, family-centered practices.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide direct inpatient care to hospitalized pediatric patientsPerform comprehensive histories, physical examinations, and daily patient assessmentsDiagnose and manage acute pediatric medical conditions and exacerbations of chronic illnessAdmit, manage, and discharge pediatric patientsCoordinate care with pediatric subspecialists, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary servicesParticipate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planningCommunicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge instructionsRespond to changes in patient condition and manage urgent clinical issuesSupport care transitions and ensure appropriate outpatient follow-upParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and utilization initiativesSupervise and educate residents, medical students, or advanced practice providers as applicableMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentationComply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standardsQualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited Pediatrics residency programBoard-eligible or board-certified in PediatricsAbility to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensureDEA registration or eligibilitySkills and CompetenciesStrong clinical knowledge in inpatient pediatric medicineAbility to manage acute and medically complex pediatric patientsExcellent communication and family-centered care skillsStrong collaboration and teamwork abilitiesCommitment to evidence-based, high-quality pediatric careWork EnvironmentPediatric inpatient units, observation units, and hospital settingsSchedule may include day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts depending on program structurePhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and move throughout inpatient unitsManual dexterity for pediatric examinations and proceduresVisual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and communication
